I didn't really think about it much, but nowadays, knowing how I dressed when I was 13, I'm kinda glad that there was a dress code. I would've been bullied something chronic
Honestly, I didn't encounter that much bullying, so I can't comment. I certainly went to a pretty terrible school too.

Uh-huh.
The Government raising taxes and teacher salaries going down? NOOOOOO! Unheard of!
I've bit my tongue long enough. You live on planet Dirp and obviously have no idea on politics and Schools cohabitation. At all. Zero. Nada. Zip. Zilch, and on and on and on.

If we provide healthcare for the needy they're just going to get sick again and want more. That's a money pit.ZeroAX wrote:In America? You guys refuse to pay for healthcare for the needy, how will you justify paying for silly looking clothes?Luke wrote: You've never heard of taxes, or do you not know how taxes work?

Re: SCHOOL UNIFORMS: Yay or Nay?
I just graduated high school last year. We had plenty of bullying problems, but none of them were based on appearance. I'm a small guy, 5'7" and skinny with long hair, and I entered a football and powerlifting gym class. No one bothered me about my body because they respected my work ethic and my numbers. Hell, I wore a Hatsune Miku shirt every week and nobody ever made fun of me for it!
You were more likely to get picked on if you were annoying or clueless or high strung. That's about 50% of teenagers, right? There were lame fist fights in the hallway every week. One kid choked another out and got suspended for three days. Some scene kids tried to start a food fight and got knocked out. It was pretty ridiculous.
In my school, at least, school uniforms would have been pointless and annoying. Better discipline for cruel behavior is far more important than a change of clothes that might not prevent it. I absolutely hated the amount of power the school system had over my life, but detention and suspension never stopped anyone for doing anything. Verbal bullying can be just as damaging as physical bullying and I think it should get a similar punishment.
So, I dislike the idea of school uniforms because it would be just another thing The Man was making me do for no reason. That's my attitude as an impatient teenager, and I think most other American teens would agree.

Finally the American attitude towards universal health care makes sense.MrPopo wrote:If we provide healthcare for the needy they're just going to get sick again and want more. We never thought of that. We should change it to a "first time free, then you pay" system. Kind of like try before you buy

Wow. Seriously? You don't understand that if people aren't willing to raise taxes to fund the schools then they sure aren't going to raise taxes to pay for student clothing? Does anyone else see what I'm saying?Luke wrote:flex wood wrote:Oh the butt hurt. It is absolutely moronic to think that would happen.
How about this, why don't you have a kid and send him or her to school dressed in what you think would be a good school uniform. Since kids are so good at deeming who is superior, and your obviously so full of yourself, your kid will of course be deemed superior and everyone will then dress like your kid. Problem solved.
I have to hand it to you, in a battle of wits, sure maybe you'd win but you're completely out of touch with the real world and have no common sense it sounds like.

Looks like we could use some uniforms around here to create some order.
