I can understand Steam, even though I think your reasoning is stupid. But what do you have against GOG?ApolloBoy wrote:That's why I have a real DOS PC and don't bother with newer PCs for gaming. I also have a Win 98 PC, but for me it's easier to simply use DOSBox on my current PC - I don't have the space to keep multiple computers hooked up.ApolloBoy wrote:That's why I have a real DOS PC and don't bother with newer PCs for gaming. I agree that Steam is DRM poopy, but I'm okay with GOG.
Re: I Think I'm Done With Consoles
There's plenty of games worth playing and your second point lines up with my sentiment. There's already DRM on the PC platform (though not as bad as it was a few years ago) and pretty soon the DRM situation on the consoles is going to be inline with the PC. There's very little difference for me. I won't argue about services like Gog and Dotemu or about the positive aspects of Steam since those were already touched upon.ApolloBoy wrote:Like games that aren't worth playing and DRM up the wazoo?GSZX1337 wrote:I think anyone that's actually switching is doing so because their computer can already do the things their console can and more.ApolloBoy wrote:What I really don't understand is why people are flocking to PC gaming as an alternative, it's the same damn thing as far I'm concerned.

Re: I Think I'm Done With Consoles
I have no plans to purchase the Xbox One or PS4.
The 3DS and GOG.com seem to have me covered for the most part. Growing up a console-only gamer, I have a HUGE back catalog of PC games to draw from.
Meanwhile, anyone who likes old school games should probably think long and hard about a 3DS where older styles of games are still often "in style."
I do plan to buy a Wii U. There are already some games for it that interest me (and my wife) and there will be more coming in the near future.

Re: I Think I'm Done With Consoles
I'll be buying both the Xbox One and PS4 already got a Wii U but I have yet to decide if I will get an Xbox One at launch.
I'm pretty disappointed with Microsoft with the lack of exclusives over the last few years I hardly ever turn on my Xbox 360 anymore. They started out really strong I played my Xbox 360 very often with the exclusives and XBLA games up until about 2-3 years ago. The only game I played recently on it was Gears of War:Judgement. The tech is cool and entertainment options are nice but I have so many devices that already do the same thing feels redundant (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, etc..)

Re: I Think I'm Done With Consoles
There are very few proper PC games being released anymore. But if you want to play current gen games, PC has become an increasingly viable option: better graphics, cheaper price. Most high profile games get ported to PC eventually or are released for both/all platforms simultaneously. Given that during the last few years there haven't been released that many good console exclusive games, in certain sense it doesn't make much sense to buy one since you can play most of the good, latest games on your PC (and it doesn't have to be a 1000+ dollar ûber machine). The Wii is an exception, and I'm assuming that during the next generation things wont be any different (PS4, Xbox One and PC in the one camp, all pretty much having the same game library and Wii U does it's own thing, aka lacks the power to run the latest AAA games and therefore focuses on more casual, family friendly, quirky and Japanese games)ApolloBoy wrote:I've been done with modern gaming for as long as I can remember. I'd just like to point out the obvious and say that greentexting does not work on forums (nor does it do in youtube for that matter). Different websites and internet communities follow different protocols and you should act accordingly. If you're too young/lack the internet savvy to realize that fact, you certainly have no place browsing sites where greentexting is possible in the first place.SamuraiMegas wrote: >read the entire first post

Which is a large reason why I'm not interested in either modern console or modern PC gaming.Menegrothx wrote:ApolloBoy wrote:But if you want to play current gen games
