This was a bit of an issue for me in Shining Force. Not so much in SF2, though. I thought the early part of SF2 was much more kind than the original.

Sounds like it's time to discuss promotion strategies, though. --Does no one else hear that--?

Hmm for some reason I thought there was an easy. I've played mostly on normal and hard. Super and ouch are a bit ridiculous.

Well, most of my games are packed up right now and my copy of Genesis Collection is not in a place I can get to (I thought it was, spent some time discovering I was wrong).

So, I'm emulating. Oh well.

Anyway, I've been playing a good bit tonight. I just met up with Peter and I've wandered off to the east. I'm done for the night though.

Its going pretty well actually, I'm not having a whole lot of trouble, which is kinda shocking. Chester is pretty underleveled though, I just couldn't keep the poor bastard alive in several battles and now I'm paying for it. He's catching up, but slowly.

I'm just hoping I don't hit a wall at any point. Call me paranoid.

Ah man I really wish I could finish Gurumin up quickly so I could start this with you guys. Sounds like you're having a good time.

Incidentally, I purchased the Shining Force Game Gear game last night.

If you do, the trick is to egress from battle and try it again to level your guys. Make sure to level your rat guy. He is tough to get going, but worth it.

I was pretty sweet on Shippo (rat guy) once I got the Assassin's Dagger, I think it is, but after I promoted him, I came to the shocking realization that he can't use daggers anymore. I spent the entire rest of the game with him in my party, just waiting for a weapon to give to him so that he actually did any damage on his double attacks. Alas, it was not to be.

My point: Don't promote Shippo until you actually have a katana of some sort.

Also, Peter is a mother-crunking beast, with the added benefit of being revived automatically after battle if he dies. (He is a phoenix, after all.) It seems like Wolf Barons are excellent regardless of the Shining Force iteration. If you find a wolf-man, you keep him, and train him: would be my words to live by. That's some pretty good progress you're making, though, CFFJR.

I always promote at 20, so by that time the promoted weapons are available.

Started playing this morning. I'm having problems keeping Chester alive as well, poor dude. I just got to the first town and then my commute was done. Seems pretty neat so far, it was a bit to get used to at first since I'm currently playing through Fire Emblem as well and that has both people attack in a fight.
