Which Flavor of Mega Man do you prefer? Original or X?

The original series is better.

I can see why people would pick the X games. The Megaman X series is a lot more accessible and polished than the original series. You're given a lot more tools in the X series, your character is a lot more agile which feels good, and the games are generally easier than the originals.

But I really like the older series for the challenged they present. I almost look at the original series as a puzzle game. Trying to figure out how to get past every new enemy with out taking damage is a thrill.

Megaman & Bass (Rockman & Forte) is my favorite Megaman game, and it does have elements from the X Series put into it. Best of both worlds :).

I always get the X games confused too. Like all of the bosses and stuff are all jumbled in my head. They just were not that memorable experiences for me. I remember X1 and X4 the most because they debuts for SNES and PSX/Saturn/PC respectively.

Gamerforlife wrote:Always kind of disappointed me that we never actually saw Wily in the Mega Man X series. Sigma is constantly dropping hints that he has either met Wily or somehow knows about him, unless that's all info he acquired from picking up the virus that was originally in Zero's system. Throughout the series Sigma always seems to know more about Zero than anyone, including X. This changes in MMX6 though, as Isoc knows everything about Zero, leading me to believe that Isoc perhaps WAS Wily in a robot body. Still, with Inafune no longer on board after MMX5, I don't even know if MMX6 can even be considered canon. This cut scene just screams Dr. Wily

Also, I think Wily definitely created Zero before X. Or perhaps they were created at the same time? That cut scene from Power Fighters makes it seem like he created Zero with no knowledge of X whatsoever.

I would love to see a Mega Man/Mega Man X crossover game done Sonic Generations style with "old" classic Mega Man stages and "new" Mega Man X style stages that would bridge the story of the two series. I would very much love to know how X and Zero got buried and why, according to Inafune, Zero never destroyed Mega Man when he clearly was powerful enough to do so. Was X activated back in the classic Mega Man timeline to stop Zero? That can't be right, because X as he was at the beginning of the first MMX game would have been destroyed by Zero easily. X was still very much a combat newbie at that point

My friends tease my other friend who is a huge Zero fan, by pointing out that Megaman likely defeated Zero, despite being totally out gunned in every way possible.

It makes sense. I mean someone had to have stopped Zero, and Megaman would have been the guy based on what we know. Probably used some resource or something that helped him defeat Zero, and prob got help from Duo and the rest of the cast. Blue Bomber can upset anyone 8).

Mega Man Kicked Zero in his Robo-Testicles.

That would stop anything.

I always thought that The Original series stagnated for so long was because nobody could think of any appropriate names for Robot Masters so they were all left giggling at names like Tampon Man.

Who the heck said Zero was the coolest guy in the series?!

Zero is cool because he was designed to be the "cool guy".

Protoman got that natural swag 8). Doesnt need any convoluted plot, every bit of exposition that revolves around Protoman is sweet to learn. Guy plays the mysterious role so well. Plus his Japanese name (Blues) is just as bad ass as his American name.

There is one thing that differentiates Protoman and Zero though. Zero has a sword, and playing Mega Man with a sword is fucking awesome.

It's not just a sword either. It's a laser sword. A LASER SWORD.

All this talk about the plot of the X Series and I totally forgot to mention that X is a whiny bitch.

X7 he's really REALLY BAD every time he fires "STOP IT"

it's almost like Dr Light gave Roll a Sex change and named her X.

I grew up on the NES and had all the NES Mega Man titles, so it's the original Blue Bomber for me.

I'd say that Mega Man 1-3 are more important games as far as my own gaming history is concerned. But that said, I probably find the X series far more compelling.
