Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2013 schedule selection method

Post by foxhound1022 »

Hey, I don't care how it's done; people will participate in the titles that interest them, and not play the ones that don't.

I kind of like the idea of here it is, now play it. I think if the regs pick a title, they'll be fairly mindful of playability, availability, and so forth, so I think that would work out decently, but I'm also for the idea of everyone having their own viable opinion; IDK.

All I know is that I'll try and play whatever is put in front of me, so meh. Unless it's some damn Sharp X86000 special emulation or whatever.

...but this doesn't make sense. Why would members participate in the club...but not talk about it? Those folks, if they exist, could be literally any random person playing the game the club is playing - i'm not sure why we are concerning ourself with hypotheticals who may or may not be involved.

As for expensive titles, that argument doesn't hold water - the cheapest console games got the least play. With the exception of Radiant, the pricier titles got the most play and conversation (Dimahoo / Dragon Blaze and now DDP).

^good point. I mean we don't limit ourselves to cheap eggs in the Fabirge Egg of the Month Club. Some hobbies are just pricier than others to begin with. Shmups included.

And again, I feel like a lot of the folks who participated this year did so via MAME or emulation when need be.

My method should be on the pierrot's poll then.

The Tyranix95 Methnod:

1. The Top Two SOTM winners of the 2012 SOTM schedule (Hash and EE) each select one shmup board for the 2013 SOTM schedule.

2. After that, we use dunpeal's hybrid method (11 regulars pick three favorites for voting) to fill in the rest of the 2013 SOTM schedule.

All Done. Play some games.

Snap. I didn't even realize alternate methods could be added to the poll.

Let me toss the Missmjmjr25 method into the ring:

-We only do it once per month
-Mike makes all the other rules
-High scorers get the stairs

Pierrot, I trust you'll adjust the poll?

I'll add them if you guys want, but you're gonna have some catching up to do in the polls, anyway.

On a slightly more serious note, I'm thinking it's looking like we might be able to call this thing in the next 24 hours or so.

yup. Now that the eleven or so of us regulars have voted I guess we're just waiting for all those other votes to roll in.

Wow, I done goofed. Added them as a joke, but that kind of messed up the poll entirely.
Any way to just reverse it...?

Whatever, dunpeal's method is the popular vote. Let's run with it. Here's what I think the cleanest way to get everyone's nominations up and being voted on. Mull it over for a few days, and PM me when you come up with the three titles you want to nominate. No rush. Once I've gotten word from everyone, I'll make a post in the thread listing everyone and their choices. After that I assume everyone will have cast their votes in just a few days and we'll be good to go.

In the event someone doesn't submit three game choices to me by the 25th (give or take), I'll make my own pool of three games to vote on in their place. Sound good?
