Luke did you read my first post? I don't like the AVGN character at all. I'm not familiar with any of James' other work. So I think it's fair to say that if you replaced him with another actor I'd feel exactly the same way about the trailer.
Any news on the release of this or did it get scrapped? And if someone has seen it, does Keith Apicary make a short cameo, or is he part of the actual story?

It's just a slow process, he'd been talking about doing the movie for years and it's taken a long time to even get things started. Hence the "coming this lifetime" thing, I don't think he wants to commit to a date unless he's certain he can reach it. I don't imagine him scrapping this thing considering how long he's been working on it.
http://cinemassacre.com/2013/01/09/avgn ... rs-wanted/ Most recentish blog post I found with an update that talks about the general progress on the film. There's another post a bit more recent where he's asking for visual fx artists.
I wouldn't expect to see it finished any time soon, though.

"Coming this lifetime" is clever and all, but the guy needs to set a deadline at some point.
I agree, but I also have faith that it'll get done as soon as he can get it done. He's never given the fans any reason to believe otherwise.
Guy seems really busy, but you gotta admit that he's basically living the dream. He gets to make what he wants, and the only people he has to answer to are his fans.
FWIW, James has said that he intends to move on and do "real movies" at some point and the AVGN movie is a way of getting his foot in the door, being his most popular character and all. That said, I have no doubt he's giving it his all and making the best movie he possibly can given the low budget and limited resources he's working with. Personally, I'm hoping he'll try and do a game-based movie at some point. Maniac Mansion would be perfect for his quirky style.
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

I'll eat my hat when he does a "real movie" that involves the nerd character*. Loved his earlier shorts, but his schtick has worn very thin for me over the past few years. And as much as I root for the fellow, he's no Kevin Smith. Not by a long shot. I don't see any major studio picking up his work for distribution.
Time will tell though and I could be 100% off base. I do know he's been pitching for a while now, but no major studio (to my knowledge) wants to sign him.
But hey. He seems to be happy, and certainly youtube is writing him checks. Wish him the best, but my expectations for his film career as of now are pretty low.
*He could definitely pull off a great horror flick given the proper resources.
always been 50/50 on the AVGN character in general, but the newest episode has Lloyd Kaufman playing Toxic Avenger games with AVGN which is brilliant. I genuinely felt excited for James to get to do such a thing - and I love the he left moments in where he broke from character cuz he couldn't help but laugh at Lloyd's ad libs.
