It's funny how saying the PS1 has better 3D graphics than the N64 or vice versa gets people more riled up these days than the old Sega vs Nintendo rivalry.

that looks amazing compared to the PS1 version. heck, I'd play that game NOW. It seems fun and the graphics don't make my eyes bleed.
Yeah, but actually this is a bit of a cheating.
Back in 97 my friend had a P1MMX@200MHz+Voodoo1 for around 1000 bucks, and yeah, that destroyed the PS1 in every way. But the PS1 costed only 300 bucks around then.
If you want to have a fare comparison, you should choose a 486@66MHz with some S3 Virge
This video shows more realistic graphics for the time, albeit the config is much stronger, the 3D card is cheap:

From what I can tell actually fairly few - FIFA Road to the World Cup 98 stands out as a possible, but a lot of the others either start in 99 for the N64 or were a different version prior to then (Madden had non-NFL football in '97 for example).ZeroAX wrote:EA sports titles?AppleQueso wrote:

Some of that was fairly terrible though. I remember having a machine in the store I worked at (yay AAFES Japan) running Descent II or something with an early 3D card and it was terrible. Looked nice, but the framerate was much worse than software rendering on the same machine. It was partly why Mario 64 and the like blew me away when I first saw it - though it could also have been a lack of exposure to the actual cutting edge PC stuff. If you want to have a fare comparison, you should choose a 486@66MHz with some S3 Virge
2-3 years later and PC gaming was far improved, but what the N64 did when it launched, for the price, was amazing.

Seta Aleck 64 is arcade hardware released by Seta (co-developed with Nintendo) in 1998. It is based around the Nintendo 64 console hardware, using cartridges to load games.

Attract modes of the games developed by Aruze released in 2003 (mostly Mah-Jongg & Puzzle games - some nice looking 2D):
