Um... congrats? I guess I'm missing something, I've only been here less than a year.

But anyway, I hope to get back to the *real* SMB2 tomorrow.

I had posted a reply to him, but I decided it was better to just ignore him and deleted my post. Maybe now that he has received some attention, he will give it up.

I loaded up SMB2 last night and felt like I was playing the first level for the millionth time. I have played through this one far more times than any other game in the series, so I'm not sure I want to do it again. Maybe I'll try to just buzz through it with warps, if I can remember where they are.

Well, that didn't take long. I used the warps. I wasn't sure I would be able to remember where they were, but as soon as I saw each level, I was able to immediately recall the shortcuts.

I used Toad the most, but only barely. Apparently, the game only counts levels you complete, so levels with warps don't factor into the stats, which is why the game only reports Princess being used once. I used Luigi first, then Princess for the ice, then Toad for the desert, and finally ended it with Mario.

I peaked at 10 spare lives. By the end, I was down to two. I could have had more lives, but I was just hammering the button on the bonus rounds.

The ending music is great. I often left the TV on that screen just to hear the music. I did the same with Super Mario RPG.

I forgot about "CLAWGLIP"! Also weird how they reversed Ostro and Birdo.

Screenshots! (spoilered for those whom have yet to finish this great game)

@Zing: What's the benefit of using Toad for desert levels?

Zing wrote:I'd be astonished if anyone who played this game at release didn't heavily use toad. The ability to pull coins fast was very attractive to kids my age. Princess was always my least used because she lifted so slowly and the floating ability isn't very useful outside of world 4. Luigi can reach most of the places she can, and is better overall.

Ive been playing since release and have beaten it using all the characters, but have always favored Princess. With the way I play I find that Princess is the best character for all stages but 6-2, thats where Luigi wins. Using Princess I can beat the game in alittle over nine minutes - which use to be world record worthy.

^same as fast. I've always used Princess for every level since the game first came out. In lots of levels you can basically just coast through it avoiding most of it by just constantly jump-gliding over everything.

I also always used either Princess or Mario. Something about Luigi's flipping feet have always distracted me. Princess's jump seems so much more controllable to me, although it can still be awkward at time.

I've yet to beat this game with only using Toad. That said, (yes we all know it is a rip off of doki doki) Nintendo did a great job of giving attributes to characters that physically look like they would have said attributes.

Princess Toadstool/Peach is definitely my favorite to play as. I think she kind of plays like the Nintendo version of Knuckles.
