Fixed camera angles and tank controls are essential for survival horror games like that.

I don't like having to figure out some crap puzzle in an RPG or Zelda like game that is usually based on some arcane piece of information obtained much earlier. This is about the only time I consult an FAQ on these type of games.... which brings me to,

Three words: pen and paper. RPG games are based on pen and paper RPGs and many hardcore/oldschool RPGs require you to do things like make maps, read instruction manuals (*gasp*) and make notes to a piece of paper. It's the same thing with Survival Horror games like Silent Hill too.

A pen and paper is always useful when playing games I find. Whether it be sketching dungeon maps in Zelda and shading out areas you have been in (and saving a lot of pausing to find the map) or remembering Ocarina tunes or eliminating Fallout 3 password combinations.

Most niggles with games have been mentioned, but one of mine is EA Trax always popping up to tell us what song is now playing, even though it has played a thousand times. I noticed the WWE games do this too. If I like a song I'll check it out in the Options menu!!
Currently playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Creating a party of characters and discovering several hours in that you took useless skills. Wasteland, I'm looking at you.

Japanese games that were never translated and brought over here, sorry but that has to be the most annoying thing ever.

Just think of all the gaming goodness we have missed.

All those mahjong games and whatnot? I'm okay without those.

RPGS MAN!! :D There are also all kinds of strange games I have read about over the years. I just dont think they took many chances on our market, wish they would have. It seems to have gotten better and American game companies are getting better. Come on though, there seems to be a never ending run of first person shooters and war games. Shoot, shoot, shoot and shoot some more. I see Call of Duty at damn near every garage sale I got to.

Trophies that you can only get online are pretty dumb, i think you should beable to platinum a game without going online.

Patches that are only put in to balance the online play or just because the developer wants it their way.

Online play, it was nice until it started becoming more REQUIRED to fully enjoy a game and not just a nice bonus like before this generation.

Oh and brodudes.

By far the most annoying thing in gaming is whiny gamers.

This thread is full of exactly the phenomena I am referring to, but see also:

DLC bitching
DRM bitching
Piracy bitching
Game story/ending bitching
Sequel-related bitching
Localization bitching
Packaging bitching
etc. etc. etc. (see thread for more examples, and I am sure most of you can think of others!)

oh...and bitching about bitching (as I am doing here) is of course annoying as well.

I like game culture in general, but there's so much complaining, entitlement, etc. that it becomes grating.
