Handy! Thanks! It's been a long while since I've played Wolf3D in full and I'm sure once I reach Episode 3 I'm going to have trouble remembering the paths.

A true man pretends it's 1992, and wanders the levels like a mouse in a maze.

Nope. A REAL TRUE man gets out the:

And honestly, I don't really mind getting lost in games like Doom or Quake. The problem with Wolf 3D is all the repeat textures and items. Nothing but the bodies to let you know where you've been.

The way it should be

I did the first 3 levels using colored walls and bodies and I continue to plan on doing it the same way, unless I'm really stuck. This is old school sensibility and what I had to do when there were no internets. Just thought I'd get you all a better option, and these have good detail.

I just started playing Wolfenstein 3D myself on Windows 7 with DOS box. Finished level 1 on normal difficulty. Got 100% kills, 95% treasure, and only 40% secrets. I remembered that I never did that well with finding the secrets. I think I will go back and use the map that exedexes provided.

And Episode 1 is done!
I forgot how hard this game is on the two harder difficulties. Will be playing it on the lower mid difficulty from now on. It wouldn't be a problem but the lack of independent strafe keys on the DOS version is seriously annoying and hurts the game quite a bit.

I'm at the boss of the second episode. Don't know how far I'll go, I love and appreciate the game but after a while the charm wears off and its much more apparent that is only more of the same.

I've never beat episodes 5 and 6 for that reason, I'm ashamed to say. After killing Hitler himself, it feels a bit pointless to keep pushing on.
