So I've been watching gameplay and searching google, but it seems as if nobody's even bothered trying to figure out how calculations in the AR card battle work. From what I've seen:
1) There's absolutely zero randomization. If two cards go up against eachother, the results will remain the same from battle to battle down the the very amount of remaining health.
2) That symbol that only appears when you scan it in does *not* correspond to what card type it is. Rather, it's its "element"- attack, defense, or magic. I'm not sure if these affect attack speed/ damage/ defense, but I have yet to see a battle where this element chain isn't broken:
Defense > Attack > Magic > Defense...
the only time this doesn't decide the battle is when they're of the same element.
3)Attack does *not* directly influence the amount of damage dealt. I'll wait until I get the game until experimenting whether element or speed affect this, or whether there's an invisible defensive stat on each card.

For anyone interested in Kid Icarus, it is $29.99 on Bestbuy.com and you can also use in-store pickup. I've submitted to Amazon and hoping for a price match.

Glad you posted this, I submitted and got a few friends to do the same. I assume you got your 10 dollar credit back.

I just got my 3ds today, so it could be first impressions of the console but I really, really like this game. Nothing like what I had expected. The downside is this game kills my hands If i'm not using the stand. I have tendonitis in my left arm from playing drums for 14 or so years, and this games controls seem to put the bulk of the weight in my left hand and after about half an hour I can't do it anymore. Not nearly as bad with the stand, I just need to find a place in this house where I can comfortably sit and play it instead of standing up. Anyone else using the stand seem to have the console "drift" just enough to throw the 3d off now and then?

Played the first level of the original Kid Icarus. Seems like a solid game but probably not something I care to try to finish right now.

Will put some time into Uprising after I play Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. :D So much to play, so little time.

999 is so good. I found personally that as I played, I could not put it down. It just ramps up the intensity so perfectly! I must play is again, I have only gotten one ending and, it didn't end well...heh.

So after a few days of owning this game, here are some impressions:

-The controls are fine if you give them a chance. The included stand helps. You can also remap the stylus aiming to the ABXY buttons if you wish to avoid using it, but I highly recommend stylus use because it is so much easier to aim.

-Online multiplayer is fantastic. My only gripe with it is the fact that you can't join a friend's match if they are playing against random opponents (only other friends), unlike Mario Kart 7.

-Single player is quite solid, and there is some depth to be had with the difficulty system. Intensity 9.0 is ridiculous and I doubt I'll be able to ever complete a stage on it without much, much practice. I did manage to beat one stage on 7.5, but most of the time I end up at around 5 or 6 before completing a level. I haven't played too much of SP though because of how much the MP has hooked me.

-HOLY COW there are so many possibilities when it comes to the weapon system. There are 9 weapon classes, with several weapons pertaining to each class. However, while I may at some point end up with two pairs of Beam Claws, one might have 4 stars in ranged and the other might have 3 stars melee with 1 star ranged. And on top of that there's the properties. Overall defense, charge attacks, paralysis properties, dash attack bonuses, speed boosts, the list goes on. And each of these could be anywhere from -5 to +5 (at least from what I've seen, it might go past this).

-Additionally, there's powerups you use which are arranged into a square. The powerups have various Tetris-block-ish shapes and you can fit in different ones depending on what you take. These could be anything from homing assists to bombs to health recovery and more. You arrange as many as you can into the square and then take them with you for use in battle.

Overall, I am quite impressed. While I loved OoT, 3D Land, and MK7, this is easily the best 3DS game I have played to date. I've already clocked about 15 hours since I got it on Friday, most of that just in the multiplayer.

For $30 at Best Buy, this game is a steal and all 3DS owners should give it a shot.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who loves the Nintendo e-Reader.

Gee, sounds familiar.
Seriously though, it's a great system, and since SF seems to have abandoned it, I'm pretty happy Nintendo picked it up.

Any fellow left-handers play the game and if so, can it be done very well? I heard left handed play is rough.

The game absolutely kicks ass. Easily one of my favorites so far.

However I have one main gripe. It takes me 15 minutes at least to connect to online, and that's with turning on and off repeatedly my DMZ for the 3DS in my router settings. Plus after I'm done my Friend List isn't even able to get me to show up as online.

I've never been able to connect with Mario Kart 7, but eShop and SpotPass work fine. Is there anyone else havin this problem? Maybe with Kid Icarus? Because it still connects after some waiting, just not instantly and it screws up my friend list. If so I'd like to know what I can do.

I must've gotten 6 different error codes that are all Hotspot errors on the Nintendo support site. If it helps, I have a Belkin router which I hear sucks for gaming.

I have really been enjoying the game but fuck I am still not use to the controls. I think I have a mental handicap for this game.
