Favorite SEGA system

It is super tough for me to decide....but ummm....ehhhh ...

1.Genesis
It is pretty much the system that started it all for me. I had an Atari and an NES before it but after I got my Genesis I kept playing it all the way until midway into the days of the N64. It gets less play time these days just because I want to explore more new systems all the time now but it was the first gaming love.
2. Dreamcast
The Dreamcast was amazing and it still is. The games on the system still hold up so well today and most of them look better then a mass majority of games that came out on the PS2. A real diverse game library as well!
3. Master System
While there are some very blah games on this system, there are so many hidden gems. You gotta love how great some of the games look as well! With ports of arcade games that didn't suck and great originals I firmly believe that if Nintendo wouldn't of had its choke hold on the market the console wars would started much earlier and Sega would of been coming out on top.
4. Saturn
I like my Saturn, and really want to like it more. But to me it was such a slapped together system and though it has some good games it came out in my least favorite gaming period. I mostly hate the 32 bit era so it is hard for me to find games I like.

I agree but NES had start and select buttons in the controller and better D-pad. I also think that NES controller has more responsive buttons, or atleast they feel better to press. I do like how the MS controller isnt as sharp around the edges as the NES controller.
It would have been great to see Sega, Nintendo and maybe some third manufacturer battling it out during the mid/late 1980s. Just think how many great games from that era there would be in that case.

I don't think the controllers would of been the big deciding factor haha

Though I like the D Pad on the SMS better, it is big and square and easy to use. Plus you can screw a mini joystick into it! Buttons are probably better on the NES though.

Saturn, Dreamcast, then Genesis

Saturn has so many arcade ports from when I loved going to arcades. I had not had one hooked up for a while, but pulled one out to test Saturn Bomberman for this weekend and lost a good hour to Die Hard Arcade and VF2. Its right below the N64 in my favorite early 3ds, and just barely at that. Baku Baku, Daytona USA, the vertical shooters, and the amount of good lightgun games, keeps it up there.

I don't think the controllers would of been the big deciding factor haha.

A game like Bucky O hare or any other 8 bit game where you have to use the select button a lot wouldnt work on SMS. Not to mention the pain of having to sit next to your console if you want to pause your game.
Atleast it uses 9 pin controllers so its probably backwards compatible with some earlier controllers and joysticks?

Like the Atari 7800?

1. Sega Saturn: The best 2d machine ever made. I have just too many memories of playing this beast of a system. It was never the most popular or the best, but very few systems will ever reach its level of fun with it.

2. Sega Genesis: I always liked it a little bit more than the SNES, but I would never have wanted to just have one system in those days.

3. Dreamcast. I never got to play it much when it first came out, but i have rediscovered it since my college days.

My knowledge of Atari 5200 and 7800 is very limited, but judging by a quick look at video game critics Atari 7800 department, it doesnt really look like enough to challenge SMS, NES and C64. But yeah, if the system had better controller etc.

I would have to say MegaDrive+MegaCD combo is my favorite... it's all heart, i love my Saturn and Dreamcast, but Sonic, Streets of Rage...

If Nintendo didn't have a stranglehold on the market, I'm sure that the Atari 7800 would've done much better, controller issues aside.
