OK fair enough you've all given a few silent films to go and watch
I will go forth and educate myself.
I'm sure there are many great old films that not only capture fantastic imagery but tell a great story too, its that a lot of them get lost on me among the mass of films that have been made around the world in the last 100 years.

Heyo. Just thought I'd let you know I'm a 17 year old kid and my first console was a PS2. Gasp! I was playing PC games way before that, though, and mostly arcade ports like Defender, Pac Man, etc.
I actually grew up playing a mix of early 80s and late 90s stuff before getting my PS2. Now I buy and play retro games not just because it's so cheap but because I genuinely love them. I play modern games too and some of them are really good.
My school has an official gaming club and I tell ya, I'll bring my SNES, N64, or PS1 and everyone loves them. I'll also have a Quake II or Star Wars Battlefront lanparty and love it. COD and Halo aren't very good for gaming, but FPS games can still be a lot of fun! There are some jerks who only play shooters, but pretty much everyone else will gather 'round and we'll have a Bushido Blade tournament or have a crazy round of F-Zero X.
A real gamer will play real games regardless of their age. Just reach out to them! Teenagers aren't quite as bad as you make them out to be

Agreed. I also happen to be 17, and the SNES is my second favorite console of all time (only behind the Dreamcast).

Agreed. I find that a lot of mates laugh at my gaming obsession, that includes old games and old hardware, but as soon as they come over and see some of the collection they want to fire it up and start asking if I have their old favourites, or games they never had the chance to play.Valkyrie-Favor wrote: My school has an official gaming club and I tell ya, I'll bring my SNES, N64, or PS1 and everyone loves them. Its not that all teenagers are like these people at IGN, its just astonishing that there are so many ignorant gamers of all ages out there. I thought we all agreed that graphics < gameplay decades ago, but apparently not everyone got the memo.

Since this has already morphed into another topic already, examples of great modern movies that use B&W. Pi and Memento.

Yeah I seem to inadvertently derailed this thread
And you are right there are still films being made in B&W out of choice, either artistic or due to budget constraints such as Clerks. In the case of Clerks I think being B&W neither helps nor hinders it since the main attraction is the dialog.

Schindler's List is an amazing modern B&W film, though it does have a handful of isolated instances of color.

Christopher Nolan's Following was in B&W, I quite enjoyed that one.

Try watching nosferatu (on fast play) at night.
And I agree saying that you can't watch B&W movies is like saying you can't play 2D games.
Mind you I think that directors have forgotten how to make B&W films, which hopefully isn't the case with most game designers and 2D games (though I have yet to see a modern platform revival which is better than it's 90s counterpart.....hm, maybe Rayman)
Wow, you are 17? I wouldn't expect a 17 year old to have your gaming taste....respect bro.GameMasterGuy wrote:Agreed. I also happen to be 17, and the SNES is my second favorite console of all time (only behind the Dreamcast).
