Wait. What? Inazuma got banned?

You can still see links to email, AIM, etc. there. I assume they will still work, though I don't know for certain.
The EMail link does work, I sent him a letter the other day and got a reply. I hope with a change of heart, maybe the cooling off period might be a good thing. Certainly one of the more colorful Members that got banned, look how many pages on this Thread. As much as I hated all the cuss words in Inzuma's posts to get a point across, interesting perspectives were brought out.

Out of curiosity how many think Inzuma should have been banned? If okay with the Mods and J.T., maybe add a poll at this OP? If I'm out of line on this, by all means delete this paragraph.
In regards to the poll idea........

I don't think anyone of us (besides the mods) have enough info. We would need to know what the final straw was that got him banned, plus maybe some other information about his past offending comments. Personally, I can't quite figure out why he was banned... but I've only been here since May and apparently the mods have received PMs from other users about his behavior.

I won't delete this paragraph because we don't do that for posts that don't break the rules, but I will explain why it is problematic...

There's no way that forum members at large can fairly vote in such a poll as they don't have all the information that the mods did when we made our decision, nor should they be privy to it. I'm all for transparency when it is warranted, but there's some things that should remain confidential.

I can't stress enough that this was a tough decision and that we were finally put in a position where we felt we were left with no other choice. I'd like to think that a long history of fair, impartial, and responsive moderating would grant us a bit more deference in cases like this...but maybe I'm wrong. :?

I'll say this again:

Whether you loved or despised Izzy, take this for what it is and move on.

I'm surprised how many members are going to miss this guy. I had no problem with him offering differing opinions, I had problems with him insulting people for having differing opinions, refusing outright to acknowledge differing viewpoints and generally being a complete arsehole to everyone he regarded as 'sheep', which frankly, was everyone. I got repeatedly sick of going into a thread with an interesting premise to find it had had 2 pages of content, then inazuma decided to use it to push his viewpoints of anythign and everything whilst insulting people and the remaining 8 pages was a boring, drawn out, argument about the same shit it was the last time he posted.

For what it's worth, I don't remember ever reporting the guy. I figured if he was a real problem, the mods would do something about it anyway. I tried blocking him once, but it was really confusing seeing one half of an argument.

Personally, I say good riddance.

I'm not saying he was, I'm just saying he sounded like one.

Randroids with whom I've discussed are always the same: they jump from the (eminently reasonable) assertion that there are objective truths to thinking that they know all the objective truths. Pretty much like him.

Ditto. My problem with him is that he never respected someone else's opinion.

Agreeing with this. His constant jumping into threads to condemn everyone and scream "STOP LIKING THINGS I DON'T LIKE!" (any Capcom, Sony, Digital Distribution, or holiday thread, especially a religious holiday like the infamous Easter thread), his hypocrisy of "Everybody should have freedom of speech unless it's about something I disagree with!", inability to tell the difference between something objective and subjective (see again the Easter thread), and his demeaning nature towards anybody with differing opinions from his ("everybody is an ignorant moron!" "Religious people are all fundies who want to kill gays!") was poison to the board as a whole.

It is somewhat ironic that he was pretty much everything he himself despised though

Inazuma seemed to be really into the idea of "making his point" which in cases that I saw, it only took him a post or two to do that, and every post after that was just him arguing with anyone who didn't agree with him. But in a subtle "I'm still the good guy because I'm right and you're wrong and I'm just trying to make you see it" kind of way. Whether or not he was an asshole on purpose all the time, I don't know, but I'm pretty damn certain I can point out a few times when he was (on purpose) and times when he "wasn't" (let's say, pretending not to be) on purpose.

I only have an issue with the bolded part, which is probably what got him banned (I'm fairly certain as I trust the mods here quite a lot). He was also a bit too explicit many times for the kind of level this forum seems to want to maintain.

Refusing to acknowledge differing viewpoints is his problem, why should I care. As for blocking him and seing half of an argument, presumably having him blocked you are not interested in that kind of argument. Skip the other half and read the other posts on that thread, or skip the thread entirely.

Once again I must stress that I find it really unfair to chastise the dude for messing up threads. If he posted his opinion and no one replied or trying to convince him otherwise, and he STILL kept spamming the thread with his opinion, then that would be different but I have not seen a single thread like that myself (anyone give me a link to one if you have seen that).

So obviously people were not being forced to reply to him or to discuss his opinions, they were doing it by choice. Given that even if you didn't really like that these discussions were taking part in certain threads, you don't own the threads, this is a forum. Check a blog or the main articles if you don't want discussion.

Ivo.
