^Heh, all I know of Soul Asylum is "Runaway Train". Anything else good? Is it similar, or like Blind Melon's "No Rain" vastly different from the rest?

A Joe Boxer pajama set with a pair of sleep pants (red and black with little skulls) and a henley tee.
A humorous T-Shirt (an Army-clad squirrel with a rocket launcher with the phrase "Protect Your Nuts"). It's 2XL, which is two sizes too large. It's also not even close to one of the shirts I asked for (is it that fuckin hard to read the Wishlist I made and whose link I posted on FaceBook and actually buy something from that fucking list?). That in mind... I'm exchanging it.
A preowned ex-rental copy of Tron: Legacy. It's not one of the DVDs I asked for and to add insult to injury it's just the who-gives-a-shit single-disc edition. I'm gonna hock it on eBay.
A Visa Gift Card for $25, though until I get my PayPal withdrawal ($20) or paycheck (on Wednesday), whichever comes first, it's my main source of money, and I haven't been keeping track of it so about $10-14 is gone by now (winter's not a good time of year, since my hours have been gouged (last week was the first time in three weeks that I got any hours) and my unemployment year ended and I gotta fix that.
I'm not counting the $30 I got from my grandfather or the $20 I got from my great-grandmother, since I mostly used that for buying cookie dough (originally gonna give cookies and cookie mixes as gifts), gifts for my niece and my brother's girlfriend's year-old daughter (don't know if his GF would count as a commonlaw wife, which would make her daughter my commonlaw stepniece), and the occasional grocery item and soda on my bike ride.
I wish my family didn't have any qualms about shopping online, cuz damn near everything I want can only be bought online (and a huge bulk of that couldn't be found in stores even if such a store existed in the area). And while there were a considerable number of items (40some, though I only put that much to give people options), only a handful were over $20! And if the items over $20 were taken off the list, the number of items might still probably be in the 40s.
And of course, I can't just ask for cash for some bullshit social protocol.

Soul Asylum, I'm pretty disappointed with. Now that I've listened to it, I remember Runaway Train...and I didn't like all that much then either. It's not horrible, but it's not my cup of tea, either. The rest of the album sounds like Nirvana meets punk, and that's not a compliment because I'm a metal-head, so there's really not much punk that I do like (Misfits, Calabreese, early A.F.I., and Rise Against...that's my entire list of approved punk bands).
The only reason it was given to me is because my mom got probation for drunk in public or something like that, so she worked off her fine by volunteering at the local Salvation Army. They got this CD in, she didn't have a clue if I liked the band or not, but Salvation Army couldn't keep it because it looked too anti-Christian to them or something so she took it rather than have it thrown away to see if I'd like it.

got him a 3/4 scale black squier strat with an orange CR20L combo. i figured i would try to set him up nice, at least on the amp side of things. i hate squiers (and strats in general) but my options were pretty limited on the 3/4 scale end of things. i think he'll like it. better than a wal-mart guitarbrunoafh wrote:Awesome! That's awesome. My first guitar was a 3/4 shitty Wal-Mart acoustic. I was still grateful though, as it got me into one of the things I enjoy doing most in life. Poor thing went out in a blaze of glory though, I smashed it over someone's head. Those guitars are definitely a great starting point, especially for small hands and fingers. Hope all goes well for the aspiring musician.aaron wrote:got him a 3/4 scale black squier strat with an orange CR20L combo. i figured i would try to set him up nice, at least on the amp side of things. i hate squiers (and strats in general) but my options were pretty limited on the 3/4 scale end of things. i think he'll like it. better than a wal-mart guitar
