While I agree with you on the stupidity of the Facebook integration (which meant I couldn't apply for an extra chance at a D3 beta key, as I wasn't going to sign up for Facebook), if you've ever actually seen real Facebook pages you would know that it isn't the fact that people don't know who you are that lets you express yourself, it's the fact that no one is next to you to call you an idiot/punch you in the face. The internet provides that physical distance even when your friends and family are seeing your latest treatise on why bananas will one day rise up and slay us all.Gamerforlife wrote:....but it's just another cog in the wheel as facebook gradually starts overtaking everything. You can't go any place on the net it seems without seeing a like button somewhere, just irritates me. Particularly because Facebook, much like Gamestop, is very shady in their practices. Always trying to trick its users and sell their info somewhereo.pwuaioc wrote:I'm actually all for that Facebook thing. Think about it, finally we can locate the trolls and eliminate them!Gamerforlife wrote:I find their ever increasing grip on the industry irritating, much like how Facebook is taking over everything(you actually can't even comment on some sites anymore unless you're logged into Facebook and have everything you say pop up under your Facebook profile)
These big corporate entities really sicken me
Plus, I support people's right to internet anonymity. I don't enjoy seeing that forcibly taken away personally. Trolls notwithstanding, I believe there are a lot of people who use the net as a way to express themselves where they might be more reserved in real life. I've always like the freedom the net gives people, and it's gradually getting taken away as big companies and corporations keep trying to control every aspect of people's lives one step at a time.

The PAL version is, and since we have 5 languages worth of text thrown in there, I believe the US version can fit it in as well

Well, of course the US version CAN fit it in. Unfortunately, "can" and "will" are two different things. We shall see.ZeroAX wrote:Xeogred wrote:Hopefully it's dual audio! I know I keep saying that everywhere, but come on...

The logic that they are similar doesnt make sense either. There is no real fast travel alternative to flying.BoneSnapDeez wrote:This logic doesn't quite make sense. It reminds me of people who said things like "Well if you don't like the TSA just don't fly!" when others complained about intrusive airport security measures.Jmustang1968 wrote:

I don't see how facebook restrict your interet rights. If you don't like facebook don't make an account.
Anonymity on the internet is a good thing, and this has nothing to do with the creation of Facebook accounts. This is about other websites that require a Facebook login (and thus, real name/picture) to post and comment, it's incredibly intrusive and unnecessary.
These websites dont use Facebook to track people so much as they use it to tap into the extensive facebook network to advertise. These websites are also privately held, and it is completely reasonable for them to ask for a sign up or facebook like to comment or get some sort of free software. They have the rights and freedom to conduct their website as they see fit. Just like this website also requires a log in to post. Another big part of it is to prevent bots and spammers.
If you want to be anonymous or post your thoughts anonymously there are thousands of places to go. That perk may stop as soon as you go into or visit another person's or company's private web page or forum.

Anything that requires Facebook is not worth doing.

I agree with this. I have never signed up for Facebook, despite it being a requirement for various things I've wanted to do. I just don't do it.Zing wrote:Anything that requires Facebook is not worth doing.
I boycotted Blizzard over their Real ID being a requirement for cross game chat, among other things. I don't want to support bullshit like that.

you know you could just make a fake person account (my ex had an account with a fake name and a sackgirl as profile pic). Though I guess, even if you don't use it to like stuff on fb, you'll still have your commenting actions on various sites tracked and sold to advertisers.Inazuma wrote:I agree with this. I don't really mind, so I still use facebook, but I always find it scary how a country which is so proud of how "free" it is, its citizens are so quick to give away their rights to the corporations.
