I'm actually using A for gas and L for items. In MKDS, I use A for gas and X for items. I think it's just the size of the system just isn't enough for me to hold it for that, along with the shapes of the buttons.
Gaming accomplishments:
Nibbler (marathon): 251,169,160 / Nibbler (one life): 5,263,360 (WR)
Donkey Kong: 423,100 [L12-1] (150th place as of 2019-01-15)
Super Smash Bros. (N64): Ranked top 5 in Wisconsin from Q1 2016 to Q2 2017
Shrek SuperSlam: won largest tournament in game's history (Shrekfest 2018)

That's why Y is better than A. It gives you a little more of a grip on the tiny 3DS. I use the Hori MK7 Handle controller as well. I really like it.

After playing a bunch of online MK7 with my Hori Handle controller, I was out of the house today and played some MK without it. This was my first time using Y and L without the handle controller, and holy shit, it was terrible. I couldn't hold L and steer at all. I ended up being forced to go back to using A and X, which hurts like hell.

Long story short, Mario Kart 7 is "unplayable" without the handle controller, for me at least. It has completely spoiled me.

How bout right now? I am tired of trying to get 3 stars offline. It's a constant roll of the dice until the game decides to give it up.

*edit*
I will try to be there tomorrow. 6pm PST for me.

Added ya, bro.

I'll try to be on tomorrow, but no guarantees. I'm having my wisdom teeth removed so I may be too screwed up to play.

Same to you man, though I'm sorry I couldn't be more of a challenge for you.

I have to say though, I died a little inside when I screwed myself on Waluigi Pinball, and your Toad flew by me, laughing maniacally at my failure.

Seriously though, it was fun, and you're a challenging opponent.

Good luck with the operation man. I'm sure I'll be having to go through the same thing in the near future. Can't be fun.

Hope to see you online tomorrow.

Picked this up today. Give me a couple days to learn the tracks and unlock stuff and I'll be ready to race.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
