When I first got my PS3 I spent a fair amount of time reading through comparisons on various site (mainly Eurogamer) and after awhile I came to realize that for the majority of games, especially newer ones, it really doesn't matter what system you get it on. It's getting rare for a game to be significantly better on one console or the other. What differences there are generally aren't a big deal.

Personally I buy the majority of my games on 360 because I don't want to have a bunch of dlc spread between my xbl and psn accounts, I know more people on xbl than psn, and because I get bad playstation claw from dualshocks. I've also noticed that for some reason at Gamestop used 360 games are cheaper than PS3 games. Buuuut PS3 has great exclusives, decent free online, and pretty much the entire fighting game community plays on PS3. If I had gotten a PS3 first I'd probably be buying most games on PS3 because I'd be more invested in that ecosystem.

I only buy Exclusives (or double dips like RE5 Gold Edition w/ Move Support) on PS3 for many reasons...

1. Prefer the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller over the Dual Shock Hand Cramper.
2. I can play any game I buy instantly after placing it in the system on my Xbox 360... even if there is a patch it takes 4 seconds at most and I'm off and running! PS3 games usually require a 10-30 min install plus a 5-10 min patch that needs to download and THEN install.
3. Xbox 360 has a scaler chip and can display all games at my TVs native resolution and won't automatically downscale games to 480p if they don't support my TVs native resolution.
4. I prefer XBL friend list and online as opposed to PSN... not to mention you don't have to update your Firmware every other week just to get online to check the new releases.
5. Achievements > Trophies. Trophies were tacked on once Sony realized Achievements were a success and you can feel it. The fact that not all games have Trophies really bugged me too.
6. Probably more reasons... but I don't want to look like I'm bashing Sony. My PS3 is great... for playing PS2 games with a wireless controller and unlimited virtual memory cards... oh... but if I didn't own a 60gb O.G. PS3... I wouldn't ever have bought one.

I always here the SNES, PS controller comparison, but I don't see it. The SNES controller is comfy, while PS controllers feel so... square. I'm not sure how to describe it, but Gamecube/360 are still the best controllers I've used.

On the DPad, I don't normally play fighters, so it doesn't get use there. Otherwise, it is mainly for Item or Weapon selection, which it is good enough for.
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

See, the handle shape they use made it shitty. Then they screwed the triggers, then the sticks... next they are going to add a 360 Dpad...

Of course this is all subjective, I consider the Dual Shock to be the best controller besides the Sega Saturn Model 2.

Oh, of course. But, I have an Englishman's knot in my hand. Slightly uncomfortable for some? Makes my hand curl up in a painful way and I can't open it until they cut the knot...

I despise the Dual Shock controllers and will avoid them at all costs. I hate the nonsensical shapes for the buttons, I hate the not-a-D-Pad, I can't stand the quad triggers with no analog to speak of, I just won't use the danged thing.

I'm not too fond of the SNES controller either, though its D-pad is better than average the diamond design for the buttons is still weird to me and I wish it had not caught on. Then the left trigger is all but useless to me.

I'd honestly take a Jaguar controller or a Saturn 3D pad over either of these.

im with you on this one this one man. The ps controller is just suitable for any type of games you play, whereas the 360 seems to be solely designed for fps. By no means the 360 is bad controller its just that it design to cater to a specific genre of games.

And yes the saturn model 2 controller is beast especially for fighting games.
