Soooooo some one it's gonna sell me a xbox, is modded, with like 8 or more games (halo 1&2, mechassault, metal gear solid and others) with 2 controllers for 80$. Worth the price?
A reminder i live in south america and the shipping alone of the console is 80$.

You say that as if MS has made many systems, rather than just two. I wouldn't be surprised if the 720 is well built from the start.

I dont know, I do not think there were many people back then who went "Hmmmm...PS2 SUCKS! I will get an Xbox!!"

I remember Xbox had way better graphics though, but I can be very wrong.

I thought that way back then. Now, I don't. Both are well worth owning. But back when they were $200 a piece, I went for the XBox. Better graphics and muliplats plus the nifty hard-drive you could do so much with. And Morrowind and Halo 1 & 2 sold me on it.

I don't think many people actively disliked the PS2 as much as they just liked what the XBox gave them more. I knew several people at the time who basically bought the thing for Halo like they might have bought an N64 for Goldeneye. Fans of certain genres, like RPGs, would obviously have wanted a PS2, but for a lot of American (at least) gamers what the XBox had was easily enough.

It was the most powerful console at the time, so yeah, multi-platform titles tend to favor it.

In a sense, it was similar to the Dreamcast I think. Not just because Sega put a number of titles on it, but because it had a similar position of lacking a lot of legacy series like those that sold people on the PS2 and Gamecube. Notably though, it did get EA sports titles that were denied the Dreamcast.

Do you mean it's going to cost you $80 + $80, or that it's a local seller saving you the shipping cost?

It seems to be a fairly typical Buy It Now type price for similar setups on eBay. There are better deals to be had, so it's not like it's a great price, but it's not completely out of touch either.

I'd say you're right. I love Xbox, but it's not instead of loving PS2. I just like Xbox games better.

Heck, what kind of gamer could possibly hate the PS2? It's got one of the largest and most well-rounded libraries of all time. There's literally something for everyone if you dig hard enough.

The kind of gamer who (wrongly) blames the Ps2 for the death of the Dreamcast.

I ended up buying it and never looked back.

I never had an Xbox back then so I have Ziggys soft modded one. Honestly for emulation purposes and playing back ups it's a great system. Newer systems and anything coming out may be harder to crack and people will look into older consoles to fit those needs. Maybe it will go up in value. Maybe not.

I would like to get an oXbox, but I think most of the games I want are backwards compatible with my 360, and many that don't are also on other systems. I just don't have the money to really buy a system for just a couple of games these days. It might go up in value, but it might not, considering a lot of the games were also released for the PC and PS2/GCN. So for someone in 10 years or so looking to experience console gaming from the early 2000s, they would probably choose a PS2 because of its vast library and a much higher number of actual exclusives that people would want to dig up; i.e. JRPGs.

For the games that have better graphics on the oXbox version vs. the PS2 version, it might be a case akin to Street Fighter II on the SNES and Genesis. They are both excellent games and the preference would be down to mainly what system you have, especially if a game like for example Star Wars Battlefront, that might get a new reissue somewhere down the line on newer systems that make the game run even better. Like how SF2 has the true arcade versions on the PS2, or the HD remake on PSN and XBLA.

Then again with the advent of digital releases and HD remakes/ports, maybe no one will want to buy that many retro systems anymore. I sold my Genesis because all my favorite Genesis games were on the Sonic's Ultimate Collection for PS3 (and I can easily emulate the stray one or two other games) and recently my Saturn (I needed the money :/) but I don't feel bad because I seldom played either system that much, and if I feel the urge to play Daytona USA or Nights into Dreams again, I got the HD reissues and it's all good to me :) (Especially now that Virtua Fighter 2 is coming out for the PSN, I can play that game again. That and Daytona were my favorite Saturn games. The other good games were too expensive for a poor student with little money.)

I might get shot for saying this, but Dreamcast is falling in that same category for me now as the Sega Saturn and Genesis too. If a few more of the DC shooters hit XBLA along with Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia....it might find itself buried in a box somewhere :(

No it would be just 80$, it's a local seller. IF i buy it from ebay it would cost 80$ shipping+xbox price and other things (like 100$+) so i think i'm gonna buy this one.
