I have it several places, but am thinking of trying the iOS port. Has anyone played it? Thoughts?

They are immune to Frost but Blaze works. Bait and swarm them with melee guys that can take their hits and pluck with ranged as well. I didn't have serious problems with them and I haven't been grinding. Don't you have a single unit that can take several hits from them without needing healing? The actual Mages next to them gave me far more concern - they are harder to bait... There are far fewer units with lots of HP that don't take a heck of damage from Magic (the ones with Magic Resistance have low HP anyway).

It is allegedly the same as the GBA remake, and you don't need accurate d-pad for this game. I say get it unless you already have the GBA remake.

I'll play a little on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. I probably won't beat the game but it'll be interesting to see what it's like. The only other Shining game I've played is Shining In The Darkness.

I got past them first try yesterday. I have no clue why I was having so much trouble. I even did it without using Blaze. Anyways, I left the game off right after you get the light orb.

A word of warning to those playing the remake!

Have you noticed how you don't get to save after the final mission of the chapter, getting plunged into the "Epilogue"?

Well at the end of chapter 3 there is an epilogue as usual. The previous 2 epilogues were dead easy, but this although I guess it is not hard really made me sweat as I started off the map badly as I figured it was going to be easy just like the previous ones.

I advanced straight and only saw that there were some units on the sides after they moved. I basically got flanked as the dudes not only were taking several hits to kill but also many of them were casters, and with their high damage output it didn't let me use the Shaman to attack. I grouped up my 3 units in a L shaped formation to expose my units to less total attackers and they were surrounded on all sides for several turns, with hard to kill enemy units that mostly only caused 1 damage per hit with their physical strikes. I couldn't focus my own attacks as none of the 3 units are ranged, and when I got one of the annoying buggers down another one would come and plug the hole.
Fortunately they had few MP - even the two "dedicated" enemy casters emptied out in 2 turns (but they hit every unit of mine with their AoE). All 3 units survived and I finally could open a hole for my two relatively weaker units to escape to the right side of the map, but to keep everyone alive I "wasted" all the healing MP and items I had. I really didn't know if I was going to make it, although probably not intended it was pretty epic...

I heartily recommend advancing with care if you don't want to replay the final mission of chapter 3.

I know. It's a Fire Emblem-esque, right?

Pretty much. A very basic tactical rpg. More forgiving than fire emblem. In some ways its simple nature is part of what makes it appealing and gives it some charm.
