I like that in the Japanese version Rick looks more like Jason Voorhees.

sadly the game keeps freezing at some point before I can beat the chainsaw boss. Which sucks, because at that point I've usually only lost a single life if any. I was going the emulation route simply so I wouldn't have to first unlock the PS3 version and save some time just jumping straight in. Though I suppose I could just play on PSP instead, but I kind of prefer playing an arcade style game like this on a console rather than handheld.

You need to play a working version.

And I got past the crucifix. The difficulty takes a significant jump after that.

I know!

FYI, this is not my first time with Splatterhouse. I'm a huge fan of the series actually, and have played all the games numerous times over the years. BUT I don't believe I've ever actually beaten the first game. So yeah. I definitely want to just sit down and do that.

it's awesome. It's a 3D brawler, so certainly a different gameplay take. BUT it's super bloody and over-the-top and definitely some serious fan-service. I really like it a lot, and I find it pretty challenging.
