Sometimes I forget how cool racketboy and the mods here are

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

OH YES! That's one of the reasons I keep on coming back to this place.

Let me tell you a story of something that happened in another forum I frequent.

Person A started an LGBT thread. It got quite a lot of discussion. After only being up for 2 days it reached about 35 pages (Some of which was slightly off-topic, but over all nothing was wrong). Then person B came in and started ranting (I say ranting, but I really mean spamming) about what a waste of space the thread was, and that it shouldn't exist because it supposedly had no purpose other than to let people talk about sex (Which isn't against the rules anyways). Then he had the gall to claim that the thread was in fact offensive to straight people because it excluded them from the discussion topic. After 5 pages of this shit a mod locked it because of "too much off-topic discussions and arguing."

So that ONE PERSON got an entire (And quite popular) thread locked because of his individual childish behavior. Never mind the fact that the mods simply could have given him a warning to get him to stop. No no, they needed to lock the whole fucking thread.

Tell me if you want to hear more stories of bullshit mods. I've got a couple lined up for rainy days.

I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

 Oh man, I lawled.

Yeah that sums it up. There were some genuinely passionate fans on there who wanted to discuss the music, but there were a lot of intolerant jerk-offs there as well. And the mods just didn't give a fuck. If they didn't like you they just banned you.

I mean really if any of the members of Tool went in there and saw how some of their "fans" acted through the anonymity of the internet...I dunno the might release another version of Aenima probably.

I've had the opposite experience of having moderators elsewhere do absolutely nothing to curtail hateful attacks. I understand that trolls will be trolls, but it doesn't make me feel good to be a part of an online community where those sorts of behaviors aren't discouraged. It makes me want to leave.

I was once a part of a forum whose administrator said they'd remove certain publicly offensive messages directed at me, which they never did. After a while I decided to drop off the site, but found no "delete account" option. When I e-mailed them about it they said it was not possible, as it was against their policy to delete any accounts, ever. Is this as abnormal as I think it is? Because it left a really bad taste in my mouth.

I've also seen other gaming-related forums with every other person's avatar being some kind of x-rated Princess Peach. Harmless maybe, but it gets old, and it didn't make me feel particularly comfortable.

The mods here put a lot of emphasis on being respectful and keeping things clean, and I really appreciate that. It's attracted a lot of higher-caliber people based on my experiences so far.
