Wow, you guys seem to be pretty pissed. I've never seen anyone spew so much rage against someone they didn't even know.
Regardless, you all have some very good points. I would concur with the following:
Too many FPS games
Too few 2D games
Too much DLC
Quicksaves should be in ANY game, especially RPGs
The shiny/wet style that I first saw in NFS Underground needs to go
More original games
Definitely more fantasy worlds with characters you can relate to
Less motion control
And as you all know, there are a ton of other suggestions. But as it is, my only current console is my Wii, which I use to play GameCube games. So I'm probably not the best person to judge the future of gaming.

You know, we've talked a good bit about FPS, and there really aren't that many more coming out compared to their older release cycle. DS has mentioned this many times on the site, but the truth is that the belief that FPS games dominate in terms of numbers created just isn't true.
Instead I think you guys are more interested in more AAA titles that aren't necessarily FPS, which would create better diversity in the gaming community. It's not that there are too many FPS, it's that those are the games that tend to get heavy advertising and lots of press.

This is certainly pretty true, but yeah I'm tired of most big developers banking on FPS's to be big nowadays and this kind of goes back to one of my other complaints, too much modern warfare settings and things like that. It's so boring to me. Luckily I've got games like Prey 2, Deus Ex HR, etc coming out soon to feed my need, but indeed that's what I want more of. Kind of going back to your point earlier, stop going for realism and I'd just like to see sci-fi/fantasy blow up a little more again. Though, some people complain that's all FPS's were in the late 90's / early 2000's, but I'd certainly take in inflation in sci-fi over generic modern warfare.

Atlus: Either make your 80+ hour rpg's shorter or just quit making them altogether. I can appreciate a game that will last a long time but the length of your rpgs are ridiculous. It's really off-putting when I know I have to dedicate all of my free time to beat one game. (I know they do have games that last reasonable amounts of time but you know what I mean.)

Square Enix: Less belts and zippers on your characters please. One belt around the waist is sufficient to hold one's pants up. Believe me; it works.
Oh and make less of this:

Male? Female? I don't know. Choose one or the other. It really isn't that difficult.

Colorless graphics with too much brown.
Trying too hard to be like a movie and becoming a bad game in the process.
Sequel overkill.
DLC that is required to do well in the game, and other design decision that are made in the service of making money without any consideration of whether they make for a good game or not.
Gravel voiced action heroes.
Games that mirror real life situations such as the War in Iraq or fears about North Korea, but do so in a way that doesn't show an appreciation for the gravity of those real world issues.

DRM, locking games to your account, online passes, stupid ammounts of DLC.

I like your list JT. The sequel overkill is a good one, it's tiresome to see a new trend with developers punching out yearly sequels thesedays. I don't have the time, money, and sometimes continued interest to keep up with so many franchises. Seriously the sequel overkill usually does just that... overkills the franchise for me and my interest washes away.
