Meh, I still said the comparison stopped with the oXbox. For 2 reasons...
1. It's the software that made the oXbox Dreamcast 2, not the hardware.
2. Sega isn't half what it used to be. The old Sega is dead. No Sega, no Dreamcast 3.

Well, I can say I definitely agree with your second comment, Sega is nothing to me now and they should let Sonic die and not try to push him on people like they do.
Only thing I hope comes out of "Sega" is Shenmue 3, and I hope it is good, not just something slapped together to appease the fanboys.

Sorry Anthony,
When I said no user base, I meant that console is not active
Sega doesnt make dreamcast any more, doesn't support it, doesn't sell it or its software
Someone here mentioned it was like back when bungie made games for the Mac instead of windows,
While Mac was alive(still is!) people bought it new hardware and software they still ran ads for it. Thats what I meant.
I doubt people in the 100's of thousands play this consoles, I'll be amazed if 20k still played it(not stored in a shelf somewhere), but if you say there are 100's of thousands i dunno...i am no where near Brazil and I cant tell you.
The Dreamcast as a console within its own is great, really great and I still have hard time accepting it failed, although I agree it needed to wait a bit for release to be on par with ps2/xbox specs.
But after playing the console for sometime, I figured something out. There is NO need to play this particular console. If you look at its games, you will find most of the games have been ported to other consoles or have a better alternative.
ex. Code Veronica is great on the DC, I had a ton of fun playing it. But the Whole collection is on GC and I believe in better graphics? The GC games is also playable onthe Wii!
Sport games, do you want to play 2K games from the year 2k or do you want to play the HD 2011(now 2012 soon) ones?
You probably know more examples than me and outside of Sonic games, I dont think the Dreamcast can offer something unqiue. Almost all of its library have been ported. Unlike Genesis, SNES, 64, saturn, ps2, xbox and more consoles where a lot of their games can only be played on that particular console itself(unless backward compatible)
i still have games for the dreamcast and i will play them, but I dont get excited like I do when I'll play nwo/revenge on the 64 or Donkey Kong on the SNES or Comix zone for the Genesis.
As i said before, Sonic games and Shenmue only. I am not sure of others do exist. Shenmue have been ported to xbox I believe?

Actually, the Dreamcast does something the PS2 can't do, and that is AA and 480P VGA, so the games that were ported to PS2 from DC are always superior on the Dreamcast, many people already know this.
For the PS2 ports of Code Veronica and DOA 2, they look softer in comparison with a the digital VGA signal and AA.
There is always a reason to play the Dreamcast for the majority of games that never had ports to other systems or sequels of games on them.
Nothing wrong for playing and enjoying it for what it is.

I do too, but for now I have a new screenshot that was just released yesterday.

Also, I think they scrapped the FPS aspect of it for a more traditional 3rd person RPG with shooter mechanics, much like Mass Effect.

No offense Anthony, because I've always had the utmost respect for what you bring to this forum, but the Dreamcast/Xbox Family connection is pretty superficial. It's true that Microsoft ripped a handful of pages out of Sega's playbook, but to call it a continuation of its legacy is kind of insulting to what the Dreamcast was. Dreamcast 0.8, maybe. The Xbox brand has the most lackluster first-party software of any major consoles, operates solely on consumer expectation, and revolves around a "me-too" mentality. The Dreamcast was all about shaking everything up with radically original content and ideas in opposition to the trends of the contemporary gaming landscape, regardless of the risks.
While the Xbox does of course have its similarities in terms of controller and online focus, the bottom line is that you can't call something a Dreamcast 2.0 unless its flagship franchises are IP's that are twice as crazy as Seaman, Samba de Amigo, Jet Set Radio, and The Typing of the Dead, and twice as hardcore as Shenmue, Phantasy Star Online, Rez, and Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram. Saying the Xbox 360 is the Dreamcast 2.0 is like saying Blink-182 was a continuation of Dag Nasty just because Travis Barker has a tattoo of one of their lyrics on his chest. There's a totally different (sell-out) heart beating underneath.
