I personally feel that if you are planning to hack a PSP and play emulators, homebrew and ISOs on it, it is in your best interest to pick up a used PSPgo from Gamestop. At $99, 16GB of internal storage, you have plenty of space to play around with for hacking, all in a nice and neat package.Michi wrote:I'm enjoying this thread. It's very informative as I've been thinking about getting a PSP or PSPgo recently. I'm still trying to figure out which one I want, but I'm sort of waiting to see if the price will drop a little bit more first. I'm a cheap gamer after all
So I'm thinking about getting a PSPgo.

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

If you're a "cheap" gamer, then even for a cheap price the PSP Go is not the model for you. If you buy more than just a handful of games, the higher prices on PSN are going to make it totally not worth it. For example, Prinny 2 is $30 on PSN as of today, while it can be bought anywhere from $15 used to $20 new if you buy the physical version. Those extra $5 to $15 premiums you'd be paying buying games for the Go would really start to stack up after a while. You should get a 1000/2000/3000 if you are really a "cheap" gamer.Michi wrote:I'm enjoying this thread. It's very informative as I've been thinking about getting a PSP or PSPgo recently. Hence the reason I like this thread. The more I learn about the PSPgo, the more I want to find a nice PSP 3000. Besides, I prefer to own physical copies of games. Hacking is all fine and good if that's what you want to do, but most of the time it just seems like a big hassle to me. Plus, the PSP just seems like it would be more comfortable to hold in my hands.BoringSupreez wrote:If you're a "cheap" gamer, then even for a cheap price the PSP Go is not the model for you. Yes, it's a cheap MP3 player now.Opa Opa wrote:Sony still makes Walkman's?AdamGomez1987 wrote:It beats getting those MP4 players or those Sony Walkman's, I find it to be much superior and carry a better picture.
EDIT: I stand corrected, apparently they have an MP3 player:

I went to Gamestop and asked to see a go. It felt alright. Other than the analog stick/start-select buttons the controls felt fine.
The analog stick, while hard to reach, felt like a higher quality stick than the stick on other psp models.

The clerk behind the counter asked me, "You do know about the Vita, right?"
(Like it has ever been a good idea to buy first-run Sony gaming hardware.)
Instead of making a sarcastic comment I opted for a more friendly acknowledgement that I did, in fact, know the Vita was coming out.

I just found out that the Go's battery is not user-serviceable. Smaller screen and battery, no longer interested.

What do you use to do this? Whenever 6.60 is able to be downgraded I'll have to start ripping my UMD collection.avrame wrote:Is I mentioned early, I buy all my PSP games used, rip it with my PSP2000 and play it on my PSPgo. Win-win.
No I didn't. I only went there to get a feel for one. Besides, the only Go they had was in pretty rough shape.avrame wrote:Did you end up getting it? at $99, i still think it's a nice deal.
