Sonic 1 was easy as pie. I was doing that when I was 6 years old. Sonic 2 was a bit more of a pain in the ass. But really you should just play it all the way through old-school arcade style.Ziggy587 wrote:I know there's level select codes, but they're a pain in the ass to put in every time you wanna start the game up.
I call the assembly of the racketeers.

Seriously broseph, like some of us have been saying the original Sonic's aren't that long at all.o.pwuaioc wrote:Sonic 1 was easy as pie. I was doing that when I was 6 years old. EDIT: Anyways, you can save your games on the huge Sonic Sega Genesis Collection, kind of like save states a bit.
Re: I call the assembly of the racketeers.
I agree with you on Sonic 2. I think it's my favorite Genesis era Sonic game. Sonic 1 and CD, they're just OK in my book. Though I do have a lot of love for Sonic 3 and S&K. If you liked Sonic 1 and 2, there's no reason you wouldn't enjoy 3 and S&K. You really should try and play them some time.noiseredux wrote:I liked Sonic 1 at the time -- it was the pack-in with my Genesis. And y'know the whole ZOMG SO FAAAST MARIO CAN'T KEEP UPPPPP thing. I tried playing it again recently and just found it kind of good.
Sonic 2 is a masterpiece in my opinion. It is the one untouchable entry in the series (that I've played).
Sonic CD is excellent.
I don't think I've played Sonic 3 or Sonic & Knuckles. In fact, S&K was on the rough draft of my Summer Gaming list. Oh well.
Oh, I know. I've played through Sonic 2 many times. But there's a lot of times I feel like playing it but not long enough to beat it. You know what I mean?Xeogred wrote:Seriously broseph, like some of us have been saying the original Sonic's aren't that long at all.

Yeah, well I dunno if you saw my edit above, but you can save during games at any time in the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection. Might be useful for you.
Re: I call the assembly of the racketeers.
Consider this another hand raised in agreement for Sonic on Together Retro next year.
As a Sonic obsessive who's beaten all the games more times than I could possibly count, it makes me weep to see all the people who haven't experienced the magic.
My vote goes to Sonic 3 and Knuckles combined. It has a save feature (for the whiners
) and everyfreakingbody has played Sonic 2. S3&K would be a great window in to the story that goes on in the background of the genesis series, and its also a simply beautiful game.

Seriously I've lost track of how many times I've beaten the original Sonic games. I always was a bigger Nintendo fanboy growing up and such, but I just might have to say I'd honestly take the original Sonic games over the 2D Mario's, even if the Mario games have far more content. Those Sonic games are just always fun to sit down and beat from time to time over and over again.
Re: I call the assembly of the racketeers.
While S3&K is my favorite Sonic game, even my favorite game on the Genesis, I think a real challenge would be Sonic 2 for the Game Gear. Or maybe since both are relatively short we can do a double feature for one month.CFFJR wrote:My vote goes to Sonic 3 and Knuckles combined. Aren't these games essentially the same as the Sonic the Hedgehog Master System games? I'm pretty sure they are... now those, I can admit I have not finished. But they do seem pretty cool, I emulated the first one a bit kind of recently, and played the second game. The second one starts off with that mines stage which I definitely remember in one of the Game Gear games.o.pwuaioc wrote:While S3&K is my favorite Sonic game, even my favorite game on the Genesis, I think a real challenge would be Sonic 2 for the Game Gear. But yeah, I don't think everyone remembers the Master System Sonic games. 8-bit Sonic pretty much, and they're not bad at all from the little I played.
Re: I call the assembly of the racketeers.
Oh damn, I love some Sonic the Hedgehog SMS. I actually prefer Sonic SMS over the Genesis original.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: I call the assembly of the racketeers.
You're crazy, it doesn't have blast processing!
Yeah, I should really try and beat the SMS games.
