With the major retail chain (Gamestop) shutting out the retro crowd more and more these days, it'll open up the markets for the employee owned local shops. Personally I've never been a fan of Gamestop's corporate approach to the gaming world and have always preferred the local guys.
I understand your opinion, but here is something for you to also consider.

In the SF Bay Area where I live with lots of other members, it is VERY expensive to start up and operate a private owned business and actually make money. Gamestop is EVERYWHERE out here. I have three stores all within 10 minutes of my apartment, and there used to be a fourth until a second shop in the mall got closed that used to be an electronics boutique. I have to drive at least half an hour to find a decent private shop, and they even struggle to offer competitive pricing because of their expenses.
Wait a minute you have one of the best PS2 supplied Gamestops in your area. I posted this at the Retro Store Directory when I went nuts during a buy one get one free "Vacation" run some months ago. Can you see if this Gamestop still has a good stock of CIB PS2 games?
Gamestop [Blossom Hill Rd.]:
966 Blossom Hill Road
San Jose, CA 95123
(408) 362-0202
Note: Special exception on list due to huge size with CIB PS2 games
