wow, never knew From Software published this game! Nice to see they're doing more than just Armored Core (which I'm also looking forward too).

You mean the one with the giant swords and the two dogs? I hated him. If you run up the stairs you can get to a archway he has trouble hitting you on making it easy to take out the dogs then he isn't so bad. Still a bastard but do abl

Anyone else been cursed yet and gotten un cursed? I'm pretty close to starting a new character just because it just seems futile trying to fight thru new landons ghosts to get un cursed.

I never had this much trouble in demon souls but I just keep coming back for more.

Yeah, I did the jump off strategy and he became much easier. I also reduced my weight down so I could start off the fight correctly; run to the left, block the first dog hit, roll away from his starting overhand attack, run up the stairs, kill the dogs. I did get cursed as a phantom when running through the depths; our host fell down a hole and we landed next to a couple of frogs which cursed me (which apparently is an instant kill on phantoms). Fortunately that doesn't carry over to regular mode, and I kept my distance when I met them for real.

Killed the giant rat in two tries (should have been one but I got cocky on the first one) and killed the gaping dragon in 1.5 tries. I say 1.5 because my first try was as the phantom of someone else, who died, but I got a sense of his attack pattern. And fortunately I already knew about his vomit spew so I could avoid that little piece of evil. Now I'm working my way through blighttown, which is every bit as pleasant as it sounds.

Does anyone else notice how broken the lock on is when fighting more then one enemy at a time? I haven't seen it mentioned in any reviews at all. It doesn't really let you switch between enemies and has really been pissing me of.

Also how much grinding do you guys think is to much? I decided to start a new character and picked soldier. I'm level 20 I think and have just been pumping stamina and vitality but I haven't even fought the taurus demon yet. I think I'm going a bit over board.

So if you want to switch between targets you flick the right analog stick. It needs to be a quick motion. I haven't had too much trouble with that, what annoys me is when I accidentally kick or do the jump attack from doing forward left stick + attack. I just want to advance towards them while attacking.

This was my one complaint with the game; I had been trying to switch enemies like Demon's Souls but it wouldn't work.

Does Blighttown lag something awful for anybody else? It is making this section very difficult for me when I'm getting around 10 FPS at points.

Oh, and to the concern about grinding, I haven't had to grind one bit. I started as a Thief and had a bit of trouble until I got the Drake's Sword. You should be getting enough XP from the enemies you kill as you naturally progress. I could see the need to grind if you wanted to purchase magic or if you were trying to get to that forest grind spot (20,000 souls to get the seal) but otherwise I haven't had as much trouble with being underleveled as I did with Demon's Souls.

Thanks Popo just fired up a game to test and it worked perfectly. Should be much easier now. To bad I only had time to test it and no time to play.

Got Dark Souls from Amazon today. I can't wait to die.

Yes, Blighttown is a lag fest, and apparently across both consoles.

I just got through Blightown and found that going offline helped prevent massive slowdowns I had been experiencing. There still was a bit of lag here and there but it wasn't game-breaking like it was before.

Aproximately 14 hours and I've finally rung the 2nd bell.

I'm trying to fight the boss of Blighttown now. I do well until I get screwed by a combination of the aoe (which staggers me when I block it) and then a jump right on top of me. And the one time I was able to summon a helper he quickly got himself killed.
