I haven't really actually put effort into playing it, but the price is def ridiculous.
Sucks though because im snes collector and i know one day i will have to throw down that ridiculous price for my very own copy.

Wrong. Although not the best RPG on the Snes it is one of the best. It just happens to command the top price. Shelling out $80-$120 for a solid and unique RPG that will last you 40+ hours is reasonable.

The CIB prices are stupidly high however all CIB and NIB sealed desirable games are overpriced. People paying $400+ for a complete copy of Earthbound aren't buying it to play it.

Wouldn't say it's 40+ hours, but it's definitely worth the price. It's not overpriced; FF6 and Chrono Trigger are just underpriced due to the fact that they've been ported (and no, the Japan-exclusive MOTHER 1+2 for the GBA doesn't count).

An amazingly wonderful game. Personally, it's my third favorite of all time after FF VI and Chrono Trigger.

I remember getting this at launch. My father bought it for me at Wal-Mart. I was so excited that I couldn't wait until I got home to open it. So I sat on one of those benches near the store entrance to read the strategy guide. Problem was, I was so enamored with the game that I forgot to bring home all the grocery bags I was supposed to carry! The Bone parents were not pleased that night, to say the least........

The price is insane, yes. I actually did buy a copy last year because my original had been borrowed (stolen) by a "friend". It's the most I've ever spent on a game.

Everyone should play the entire trilogy.

There are plenty of things you could do with $600. There are also many people who spend $600, or much more, on things you would find "ridiculous". No one is "overpaying" for Earthbound, that is simply the market value. If other people value it more than you, then so be it.

Feels like a whole lot of player hatin' going on.

PS: I have my CIB Earthbound listed on Ebay. I have been fielding offers of $600+ since it was listed, and I have turned them down because it is not enough. I am willing to keep the game for another year and probably get $900 for it by then if no one offers enough this time around.

Hipsters are over-valuing the game. That is why the price is so high because hipsters like to play niche things they heard from a youtube video.

You either play ball on ebay or don't with the prices. And consequently it twinkles down to the forums as well.

I think this game is a lot like the high tier neo geo games. One sells for a lot, everyone else wants that now. Just look at Hagane SNES for this example.

I've been monitoring ebay for quite some time now and things have gotten pretty bad overall. The high fees, resellers, and back dooring auctions.

If this is a taste of things to come, we are dealing with a bunch of newbie collectors who have more money than sense. Consequently, willing to pay any price for something.

I wonder if price would drop if they put it out on Virtual Console?

On loose carts it should, probably not on CIB.

Nintendo is weird. How much do you think it would cost them to include the Mother games on VC? How much money do you think it would make them?
