I am not sure this really answers your question, but...

If I recall correctly, the XBOX version has better graphics and faster load times. The PS2 has far better wireless controllers, however, and that clinches it for multiplayer - which is AWESOME in both games.

I have not tried the GameCube version of the first Dark Alliance; so, I cannot speak to that. Theoretically, you could play it with WaveBirds (my favorite wireless controller of all...) on the Wii (which is easier to turn on and off than the PS2).

When searching for 6th generation games:

1. See if there's a version available on the Dreamcast
2. If there's no Dreamcast version, see if there's a GameCube version
3. If there's no GameCube version, see if there's a Playstation 2 version
4. If there's no Playstation 2 version, then sigh heartily and buy it for the Xbox

That big ugly black beast is a last resort for me, really. Nearly every game plays better on other systems and I only use it for exclusives (Panzer Dragoon Orta, Phantom Dust). I feel the same way about its successor too.

That button layout is also pretty horrid for most fighters

(though it's oddly comfy as hell for Soul Calibur II)

I have a Hori pad, and a Pellican fake-Hori pad. I'm probably gonna sell em as my wife and I always use the WaveBirds for GCN games anyway.

My gamecube has been reduced to a gbplayer-only box since I have a wii now.

I might have to consider buying one of those from you when you put them up (assuming I'm fast enough on that hori pad and can afford it)
