If it wasn't for the warranty being kind of void in a different country, I wouldn't even think about it (70€ less, plus they get the English versions of the Japanese games way before us)
Someone on the Eurogamer forum tried, and after working the maths realised they'd only save £30 quid tops from doing so (after UK import taxes and shipping and the likes). They'd have to import every game they buy afterwards too, and if they wanted it straight away, theyed have to wait a while longer for it. I don't know if it'll work out cheaper for Greece, but personally, for that saving I wouldn't think it's worth it to wait for every single release in future to arrive from the States.

Also, the Japanese price works out about equal to the European price even without considering shipping, so you're not gonna save anything there.

Great news.. $250 is more than fair and they minimized the annoying online code for every game.. The only problems left is the full region lock and the weak battery life...

Region-locked?

Fuck off, Nintendo. Hello pirating all RPGs... I am not buying two of this system. Region locking is complete bullshit.

Um Zelda has NOT been confirmed for launch day yet, sorry guys. I have been around the net all day. None of the games have a set day, everything says around the launch release window leading up to E3. Zelda is not even mentioned in that same statement according to the ign articles. At this point it looks like all I will be picking up is street fighter 3d day one, because I guarantee Kid Icarus is a ways off. Nintendo is not going to deny Japan Zelda and give it to us right after their launch date. Think smart guys

Damn no Zelda on launch :( . Oh well I'm definitely picking up Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D on launch probably.

I'm excited for it but I agree that the region-locking and battery life is disappointing. I'll still pick it up regardless. 8)

I think the hype-machine of this system is a little bit out of control. Most games are only rehashes. Super Street Fighter 4 is good, but multiplayer is kinda compromised on a portable. Zelda is good, but it's just a game from 13 years ago with bells and whistles.

Now I wonder what Sony will do next week, if the leaked information is true about Sony showing off the PSP phone and PSP2 on 1/27.

At USD $250, Americans will pay less than Japanese and most than other Europeans, people should not whine about it - consider this is a breaking technology none other competitors have at this moment. And as far as I know, the games will be in the same range as regular DS games, which isn't too bad.

Think about inflation when anyone brings up Virtual Boy and Turbo Express, they cost more than $250 in 2011.

Now I do wonder if this will kick start a new Nintendo on-line portal, considering the Wii Channel isn't fresh anymore. And what games will be available at launch day, I can wait until fall to pick this up.

I thought Nintendo has more or less abandoned Wii Virtual Console. Am I mistaken? Will the 3DS one fare better?
