The NES. Not because it's bad or anything. In fact, I love playing the NES. But I was the only kid in the entire world that didn't have one.

So, yeah. Fuck the NES.

I have a few gripes about a few systems.

GBA - disliked the fact that the only place I could play it was in the bathroom because of the great vanity lights in there. GBASP was purchased day 1 with the GBA being traded in as well. :)

NES - sharp corners were a pain, literally, then the MAX came around but the slider pad was too different, then the dog-bone controllers were perfect

Genesis - had no more buttons than the NES controller for the first 3 years or so, SF2 on a 3-button pad was a f'n joke

TG-16 - same issue as GEN (but IIRC, the higher button count, 3~6, came out sooner than on the GEN)

Saturn - hated the US controller shoulder buttons, was resolved by getting a JP controller

Jaguar - the number pad was just, just, just, meh

3D0 - I really hated the d-pad, too stiff or not responsive enough

PS1 - the original d-pad was again too stiff to play any fighting games - that and the loading times killed fighting games for me the first few years on PS1, skipping on FMVs

N64 - wish the C buttons were all the same size like a SS controller, that and the analog stick getting loose

GC - that f'n Z button, everything else I loved about it

DC - sharp d-pad and flimsy triggers

XB1 - triggers require too much force, buttons feel too hard/unlike any other console controller buttons to me

PS2 - had 2 crap out, 1 fat, 1 slim

PS3 - boot time, controller connection time, incessant updates

Wii - not region free unless hacked

But all in all I don' really have a least-favorite. Just some gripes about all systems.

(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

PS2

I was in college and working retail selling video games during the launch of the Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube and Xbox. I ended up getting a PS2 on the second shipment after launch. About a month later it crapped out on me. People would purchase the system, it would break, they would bring it back to to the store and we couldn't replace it because Sony wouldn't give us an exchange or credit and we were told to have the customer call Sony to get it replaced/fixed. They would call Sony and would be told to take it back to the store, there was nothing they could do. It was a terrible cycle and turned me off to the system and most Sony products in general because they would not stand behind the product and gave their customers the run around. I went through four PS2's that I only got replaced because of my job before I gave up on it. Let alone the headache it cause me and the people I saw that got screwed by Sony.

I didnt have either growing up so I would get picked on by BOTH sides.
Though, the only gaming i got done until about third grade occured at my babysitters house and SHE had a master system. I think that thing rocked. Rastan was awesome and the Double Dragon port was FAR superior to the NES version. I remember playing the nes version at a friends house and being sorely disappointed that there was no simultaneous 2-player mode in it. I mean, come on! Its DOUBLE Dragon, with two brothers duking it out, right on the Cartridge Label! Also, the fact that it had a built in game was way sweet, even if it was only hang-on and safari hunt. Lame that if you wanted to pause, you had to press a button on the console, though.

Lesser known fact: You can use a master system controller on a genesis if the game doesnt require the c button. You could still use it, but no c-Usage. Played many a game of golden axe this way.
Systems: ATARI 2600 - NES - FAMICOM - SNES - N64 - GC - WII - GENESIS - SEGACD - SATURN - DREAMCAST - PSX - PS2 - PS3 - XBOX - XBOX 360 - GB - GBC - GBA - DS - PSP - NEOGEOPOCKET

Hard core. I'd much rather go without the magic button then the jump button. Jump attack spamming is how I beat this game.

Or are the buttons remappable?

I seem to find some redeeming feature in almost all gaming systems that make it worthwile for me to spend at least some time gaming on them.
Really? What? I haven't found any reason to try and repair or replace my broken CD-i, the thing is atrocious.
That's the common reaction to that system.

The thing is that initially it wasn't intended as a games system at all. It was positioned as a type of all-in-one device. Something like "look it plays audio CD's. And look it can also play movies". And later on- "But wait! It can also function as a games console"

It definately was a difficult sell because "what was a CD-i"?
At first an education/professional tool -an area where it had moderate success, but to appeal to a wider audience the player took on Kids titles, Reference, Virtual News Broadcasts through the years and of course games, throw movies into the mix and you have a very confused product to sell. The high price tag for admittance didn't help matters either.
alienjesus wrote:personally, for my least favourite console I'd nominate the CD-i, I've not managed to find anything to justify the one I owned.
Your opinion and you're entitled to it.
Let me ask you though, which games have you played?

To me it had some "decent" software. I mean not everything was crap as most people believe to be the case.
I believe the system has the only console version of the 7th Guest.
Other good games would be Burn:Cycle, Litil Divil, Voyeur.
It had the very exclusive Nintendo licensed products (whether you like them or not). Excellent Full Motion Video Games like Mad Dog McCree, great visuals on Chaos Control. Excellent platform action with The Apprentice.
All these may not be memorable to you, or it could be the case that you simply have not played them yet?

Mad Dog McCree was an awesome PC game. I think it was the first one I ever played on my Windows 95.

My Least favorite console would probably be the Atari 7800. The Atari 7800 just was decimated by Nintendo and Sega.

My 2nd least favorite would be the Wonderswan. I actually really like the system's design and it's library of games, but it has the worst screen ever to be in a portable. If you thought the screen on the original GBA was bad, this is worse. I can see why people try to get a Swancrystal.
Current systems: Atari 2600[x2], NES(top loader), SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation, PS2, PS2 slim, xbox, xbox 360, Turbografx-16, Game Boy Pocket, Game boy SP[x2], Nintendo DS[x2], Nintendo DSi, Nintendo 3DS, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Wonderswan Color, Neo Geo MVS.

The same thing happened to me. I was so pissed when that happened.
I had to sell my first GBA because I needed the money. A few months later I went to buy a new GBA. I also got a copy of Yoshi's Island. I went home, opened it, played for 1-2 hours, smiled at the greatness of the game.

Then I decided to take a break and turned on my PC to browse the internet....
Nintendo announces the new GameBoy Advance SP with a lighted screen
.........FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you tried the Sly Cooper series?
No can't say I have and I really should. I'll get the Trilogy on the PS3. But at the time all I kept reading about was Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank. Both good games, but just not as good as Super Mario, or Crash Bandicoot (I actually enjoyed the first PS2/Xbox?GC Crash game)
