I agree. It's ridiculous. I just didn't mention it earlier because it had already been brought up.sevin0seven wrote:out of all the hard games mentioned here, Silver Surfer should be the hardest game. none of you guys played/try this game? you only have one hit point the entire game and you're basically not allowed to touch ANYTHING in this game either!

For myself beating Shadow Gate, Solstice, Ninja Gaiden 1 & 3, Castlevania, Ghost n Goblins, Battletoads, Mega Man 1 and Gauntlet made me what to tattoo NOW YOUR PLAYING WITH POWER on my chest. The one game that got the best of me though was The Immortal. That fucking game destroyed me every time. I damn you Will Harvey. Others that were hard and I never beat were The Legend Of Kage, Marble Madness and Jaws. Jaws sucked, but for some strange reason, I couldn't stop playing it. Maybe it was the notion that I was getting my ass kicked by a fish.

Bayou Billy. The hit detection was awful. However the main event is the infamous driving levels which simultaneously force you to go as fast as possible so you don't run out of time, but punish you with instant death if you make the slightest error and hit one of the posts. Not only that, but the controls were extremely loose, further increasing the difficulty.

Is this a bad time to mention this is one of the three NES games I own?sevin0seven wrote:out of all the hard games mentioned here, Silver Surfer should be the hardest game. none of you guys played/try this game? you only have one hit point the entire game and you're basically not allowed to touch ANYTHING in this game either!

Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt and Kirby's Adventure are the other two I own. Somebody offered me Silver Surfer for free years ago, so I took it. The game's hard, but not impossible. I found eventually I had an easier time with the vert levels than the hori ones. I'd suggest playing it in a format that allows save states though, because beyond rote memorization of the levels it's a brutal experience.

I didn't think Double Dragon 3 was that hard and I bring this up only because I've seen people bash the game for its difficulty. I've beaten it solo multiple times and it just comes down to using your character's best move, like the cyclone kick for Billy and Jimmy, jumping double kick for the blue monk guy, etc. A lot of beat'em ups are all about finding that one overpowered move and exploiting it. DD 3 is my favorite of the NES trilogysevin0seven wrote:i also like to add on that list:
Double Dragon 3: The Sacred Stones - the hardest double dragon. enemies keep ganging up on you and the moves are hard to pull at times. your only great chance of beating this game is if you play in with two players.
The Karate Kid - only four levels and they are hard. heck even the bonus level is hard.
Yo! Noid - just one hit and your dead, also there is no check points so when you die you start over again.
Now I've played The Karate Kid and Yo! Noid, but for the life of me I don't remember if I beat them or not. I remember I enjoyed Yo! Noid though for that pizza mini-game.
Battletoads was one I never beat. I could make it past the hover bike part though, and was always proud of that. I think the reason I never beat it was its length. The game's difficulty would just wear me out before I could make it to the end. It never really let up and gave you a break

I forgot to mention Star Wars earlier. It's not too bad at first, but it gets really brutal. You pretty much have to have it memorized.
