Go my first couple hours into it last night. I'm diggin it, mostly. The story would be cooler without the flashbacks, ya'know, if they just stuck to what IS happening with only necessary back story elements sprinkled in for cohesiveness. AND YOU CAN'T SKIP THE FRIGGIN CUT SCENES!! That's the biggest injustice a game developer can suffer a gamer, it's so annoying... not that I don't care about the story, but on play through 2 I'm gonna take smoke breaks and finish that Samus quilt (kidding)... but seriously, I hate not being able to skip cut scenes. The action is fun, it's intense like Ninja Gaiden, in a Metroidy way that I can enjoy. I'm still getting a grip on the controls tho, for the first time in my gaming life I'm finding myself having more than one way to hit a button, which is weird. I would also like to get Energy from defeated enemies. Other than that... guess I'll swing back through here when I have more to say. Oh, and I agree with it being like Fusion.

edit...
I'm gettin the hang of it. Though I realized if I don't hold the controller completely flat-like the FP view tweaks out, it was pissing me off until I realized it was my fault. And about it being Ninja Gaidenish, I noticed it the most during the battles with the Zebesians (Space Pirates)... the tightness of movement, the slick animations, it's damn fun. So far there isn't enough bad to say Other M sucks. I dig it.

I just recently beat this game and really enjoyed it. A few months ago I played through Super Metroid, and thought it really felt like that game. I know others disagree. The ending though, was a TOTAL turd. The boses kept getting better and better, and then the final boss is a total letdown. I didn't even realize I was fighting the final boss. It wasn't fun at all. The final playable scene (excluding the post game stuff), was the worst thing they could have done. UGH. It took me like 20 minutes of not fun, brain-killing gameplay before I realized what I needed to do.

Didn't mind the story portions. I think their badness is greatly exaggerated. I enjoyed the game very much (except for the last bit) and would highly recommend it at its current price point. I didn't spam the dodge, so I don't know if doing so would take away from the game.

I'm glad to see the opinions on this game turn more positive. It really left me wanting more.

I still haven't gotten past the boss with the room full of Metroids. Didn't figure out how either. Don't tell me tho. I started a new game a couple months ago and couldn't get past Riddley for some damn reason. I'm gonna have to start it all over soon.

Metroid: Other M - Thoughts?

Post by MulishaSoldier929 »

Started playing "Other M" again last night and I still can't really find why this game drew so much criticism. My only beef was that yeah they had Samus talk and made her sound/act a bit like a 15 yr old girl but other than that stupid flaw, I thought the game was actually really solid. Just my opinion tho. What did you guys think?
