The music in the 3 DKC's were absolutely amazing, and one of the best parts of the game. Even if the rest of the game is golden, mediocre music would be a huge let down for me.
I 100% agree, the music of the DKC games alone is what makes me want to play them sometimes. But the music in the trailer seems to be faithful so here's hoping.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
one of my favorite platformers finally getting a proper sequel treatment,
cannot wait, highly anticipated title this year.
DKC2 had the best soundtrack, by Dave Wise (hopefully he's involved with this project), although I'll take Grant Kirkhope, Robin Beanland, Eveline Fisher if he's not available.
Rareware team is well known for his fantastic musicians.

Yeah, DKC2 definitely had the best music. My brother and I listen to the soundtracks while we were doing some construction for a while. It was great.
I REALLY hope Dave Wise is doing the music.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
My questions are: Why didn't they just call it Donkey Kong Country 4? Nintendo sucks at coming up with titles now a days. And why does Diddy Kong have a rocket launcher?
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
Yeah, I think it would have been better if it was called "Donkey Kong Country 4" instead of Returns. Diddy riding on Donkey though is pretty funny.
I always thought "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" was a bad choice of a title. It's too confusing, and raises too many questions if you don't know about the games.

Probably because it's being made by a different developer. It's not being called 'Donkey Kong Country 4' because it isn't Donkey Kong Country 4. It's a return to the game play.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Yes, but it's just a better feeling if it was called 4. Either way though, I'm just glad that it's happening.

Nintendo sucks at coming up with titles? At least they aren't naming sequels the same thing as the original for no good reason.
Looking at you Alone in the Dark, Wolfenstein, and countless movies.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
I have noticed if its on the same console Nintendo might go by numbers if the games are similiar, but on other consoles they change the name, and start the numbers over.
examples:
Super Mario Bros., 2 and 3 - NES
Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - SNES
Super Maro 64 - N64
Super Mario Sunshine - GCN
Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Wii
Donkey Kong, Junior, and 3 - NES and tons of other systems
Donkey Kong Country, 2: Diddy Kongs Quest, and 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble - SNES
Donkey Kong 64 - N64
Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat - GCN
Donkey Kong Country Returns - Wii
It seems Nintendo doesn't do numbering if the series moves to a new console, probably so that people new to the games don't feel like the are playing something old, before their time, or are missing out on something if they didn't play the first ones.
On handhelds it seems cross numbering doesn't matter as much. Wario land series comes to mind. Is Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 or Wario Land VB considered Wario Land 1?
