Can you control the deceleratrix? ;)

And for driving enthusiasts who prefer full control over the vehicle, what about the shift-a-tron? We'll have none of this slushbox nonsense :!:

Ok, I don't play driving games, but I do demand manual transmission in my vehicles.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the demos. It's everything we saw with the Wii years ago. Nothing improved, only you don't need a controller now. The lag was unpredictable, too. Sometimes there was a good half second of lag between what the player was doing and what was happening on screen. The same movement when less was happening on screen or if the player was positioned differently, was instantaneous at other times.

It's like playing Street Fighter and not knowing when it's going to a hair second longer for the game to realize you're blocking... oh wait.

The racing use with Forza really bothered me. The game is supposed to be Gran Turismo on the Xbox. It's supposed to be a racing simulator, basically. When I hit the track in my sports coupe, do I hold my hands out into open space and swing and twist them about to maneuver my car? No. This is a situation where I would actually WANT an accessory or peripheral. I think they completely missed the point here and are trying to slide motion control in where it isn't wanted.

The games looked lame for sure. Though Forza has a bit of potential imo, if they can put cockpit looking like that into Mechwarrior I'd be totally sold. Little stuff like that could make it a really nice addition to traditional games. At least it was a little more interesting than the trailers shown, GoW, Fable, Halo, it was like a damn timewarp.

I'm mostly interested in the nongaming stuff announced though. Of the few people on my friendslist, almost all of them seem to use Netflix more than anything so I see expanding the nongaming features as a really good move. I'm really curious how well the motion and voice menu controls will work, if they're good I'll be all for it. I want a remote for my 360, but the whole reason I don't have one already is because I don't want more controllers laying around.

(Man i must be sounding like a MS fanboy lately )

It's funny, I was writing a post about the head tracking and was using Mechwarrior as a reference but then gave up on it. I like the idea of being able to turn your head to look out the side, but when you're using a TV screen it becomes hard. If you want to use a single screen you really need an old style VR helmet. Otherwise the sensitivity of looking to the left or right has to be so high (so that you can turn while looking at the TV) that you'd have to hold very still while playing.

^right, the screen has to move with your head in order for head tracking to work properly. You can fake it and track the eyes within the boundaries of the screen. However, once your eyes and head position leave the screen, it becomes pointless.

Yeah, and tracking eyes is sketchy at best. Things such as glasses can screw with it.

Yep. And I'm not putting my damned contacts in just to play a video game.

it's easier to just use multi screens. think about it the borders of the screen would be like the inside of the cockpit :D

Hmm, with MechWarrior coming to Windows and ATi's EyeFinity, this may soon become a reality.
