Seriously. No offense guys, but half the other posts have been a combination of personal opinion and bs. New 360's are pretty darn reliable, and both systems have a solid selection of exclusives. So pick what you like best, they each have pretty distinctive games. I guess the biggest non-subjective factor is multimedia support. PS3 has bluray and supports more formats than 360.

Of course it's going to be mostly personal opinion. There is no way to objectively say one is superior to the other, so it HAS to be personal opinion that makes the decision.

Yeah that's my point. You can't tell someone else what their opinion is, all you can do is present facts.

As for 360s being 'pretty darn reliable' - I had a friend of mine that got a brand-new X360 Elite on Christmas. It was on the shipping truck by mid-January. Could it have been a random dud? Sure. However, it still didn't help my opinion.

Fair enough. My 360 was bought around the same time as hasn't had any problems. But my MacBook Pro has gone through 2 motherboards and a dvd drive in 2 years, and those are supposed to be extremely reliable. 360s were really unreliable, they're acceptable now. It really shouldn't be a factor in the decision.

hey everybody, thanks for the input... i think at this point im leaning more towards a ps3, prolly just get a used one from the exchange, and if i decide i dont like it i can return it for the 360,

i wasnt really worried to much about online gaming before, but now i kinda wanna try some call of duty online, but i cant really budget for a monthly subscription to pay for it, so the free online play is gonna win over paying for it.

It isn't a really a monthly subscription.

Ps3 and 360 have the same amount of Exclusives that aren't shooters.

I still do not own a PS3, Xbox360, or Wii. I'm always tossing around the idea in my mind of which I would buy. The 360 would connect me with friends online, but I can get most of the games for PC and for less money. PS3 would give me access to a few games that I'm dying to have that I can't get anywhere else, namely Demon Souls and the upcoming Last Guardian. And the Wii has a lot of retro-flavored goodness on it with all of the remakes and retro-themed games like Punch Out, Klonoa, A Boy and His Blob, New Super Mario Bros., etc.

It's not like I don't have more games than I know what to do with already though.

Why? Slims are considered much more reliable than the Phats, and not just by industry tools, but by Ben Heck himself based on his dissection of the beast.

If Ben Heck says it's good, I'm inclined to place my bets on that pony.

Just buy one and eventually buy the other. Both systems have great exclusives and both are awesome machines. 360's are getting cheaper and cheaper by the month to pick up.

Ok then, Ill go back to my original "new consoles suck, get a ds/psp" opinion
