Recommend me some puzzle games like Braid or Portal.
Re: Recommend me some puzzle games like Braid or Portal.
I was skimming over other people's posts to see if someone had mentioned Winterbottom, only to see it in the very last post!

Limbo is pretty amazing.

I just finished Portal (yes, I know I'm pretty late to the party). It did make me think of Braid, which I also finished several years after release. It is a shame there aren't more of these games. Personally I preferred Braid, which for whatever reason really resonated with me - maybe because of the relatively serious tone, compared to Portal which was hilarious and also was extremely memorable.
Of course now we have Portal 2 (which I haven't played yet).
There are several good suggestions in the thread, although none of the ones I saw suggested come very close to Braid and Portal in my opinion. Perhaps the closest is Trine? I haven't played Limbo, Oddworld nor Prey, but played some of the arguably more obscure ones like Pushover and its "sequel" One Step Beyond).
Beyond "One Step Beyond" which I think hadn't been suggested in the thread yet, there is also a rather good PSP game called Exit which should be considered by people interested in this type of action/puzzle hybrids.

Since writing that, Sword and Poker had a sequel, though both may or may not be on the iOS App Store anymore.REPO Man wrote:If you have an iPhone (or iPod touch), then check out the Alice in Wonderland game. It's based on the new film from Disney. It's got rave reviews and I really love it.
I'm only mentioning that cuz the title said "puzzle games like Braid and Portal".
For "other" puzzle games for the iPhone OS, here's some suggestions:
* Dungeon Solitaire, which is an addictive card game.
* Flood-It, where you gotta flood the board with a single color.
* Sword and Poker, a poker-based RPG of sorts, where you attack by making poker hands on a 5x5 grid.
* Dark Harvest, a physics-based Puzzle Bobble/Bust A Move clone with a grim theme.
* DropZap
* BlocksOfLight, a Lumines clone (though Lumines is also available)
* Gelex, a physics game where you use falling blocks to match three like blocks
* PolyCubes and Dropoly, both gr8 BlockOut clones
* Circletris, which is kinda like a Klax clone set in a circular enviroment
* BoXiKoN, where you use odd-shaped blocks to form lines on a grid
They've also got ports of great games from PopCap and the like, as well as plenty of clones, some good and some bad.
And for the most part, of all those games, on BoXiKon seems to have been ported to Android.
Dark Harvest is still not on Android, though there's probably another Puzzle Bobble clone with physics thrown in.
Some other Android puzzle games I've found:
* The Angry Birds franchise
* Atlantis Sky Patrol HD. The link leads to the free version, not the full version
* The "Cut the Rope" franchise
* Blokish a Blokus clone
* Chu Chu Rocket, also on iOS and (apparently) NES (unofficially) and Sega CD (under a different name)
* Dragon's Lore, a Cubix clone
* Monsters Ate my Condo
* Number Island, a nurikabe game
* Word Drop
* Dungelot, ported from the Unity-based browser game, combines roguelike elements with puzzle elements.
* Puzzle Quest 2, though it's pretty picky about what resolutions it'll play on
There's probably more but I just went through what's in my "My Apps" list.

I think the best game I have played in this puzzle genre since I originally started this thread in 2010 has been Escape Goat (well, unless we count Portal 2):
