I know you said no MGS4 a few times already, but I'd say at least download the demo, it's free. it's not fps, it's more action adventure.
not into racing ?
I have had a fun time with the NFS Shift demo.
Grid is awsome too
someone mentioned the FragFX controller and there is the Fragenstein...but i spose bolth would cost you to try them out.

Re: Wow, lack of PS3 games that appeal to me
Granted its an older one, but I didn't like the MGS demo that came with Zone of the Enders. My friend at the party with me who kept trying to steal the PS3 from me has MGS4 but no PS3, so I imagine He'll end up over to play it again at some point. I'll give it a try, but I'm not all that hopeful. I am having fun with Infamous that I picked up today. I'd be happier with mouse and keyboard, but I am enjoying it. So thanks to those who suggested it.nate wrote:I know you said no MGS4 a few times already, but I'd say at least download the demo, it's free. it's not fps, it's more action adventure.

On a side note, I tried a Japanese PS1 game for shits and giggles. What's the point of Sony being jerks and not letting you play other region PS1 discs at this point? I highly doubt anyone is going to pick up a foreign PS2 or PS3 just to play an import PS1 game so its not like its going to make them any money by still being dicks about it.

Do you like InFamous? I rented it, but only got to play for a few minutes.

I've read the whole thread through. The title just surprised me.
From what I understand you shouldn't have won a PS3, its not for your tastes.

Comparing MGS2 With MGS4 is like comparing Zelda 1 with The Wind Waker, there totally different animals. MGS4 has been built from the ground up and is very different from previous entries. In fact, if it wasn't for the characters you wouldn't think its a MGS game. Give it a shot, it deserves a chance. Also a previous poster mentioned Folklore. Thats a hidden gem and a very fun RPG. I highy recommend that as well.Hobie-wan wrote:Granted its an older one, but I didn't like the MGS demo that came with Zone of the Enders. Well, that just means that you didn't like Metal Gear Solid 2. Welcome to the club. I'm a die-hard Metal Gear fan, and that was my least favorite of all of them. At least buy MGS4 used from GameStop and, if you don't like it in seven days, get another game. If you don't like the sneaking around bit, then you can just blow shit up if you want. It'll knock your score, but who gives a damn.Hobie-wan wrote: Granted its an older one, but I didn't like the MGS demo that came with Zone of the Enders. Also, Valkyria Chronicles doesn't really play like an RTS. At all. It plays more like a turn-based action game. Considering the game is only $20 at GameStop, it'd be a shame if you missed out on one of the best games for the PS3 because of a misconception. I seem to remember even Yahtzee saying he actually enjoyed playing the game, and considering he hates anime and anything turn-based, I think that says something.
As for Uncharted 1 & 2, they don't really play like Tomb Raider. It's more like Prince of Persia with guns. Again, it would be a shame to miss out on this series just because you think it is something else.
Since you seemed to respond favorably to PixelJunk Shooter, you should check out PixelJunk Monsters and PixelJunk Eden. I know, you don't like strategy on consoles or platformers, but PJ Monsters and Eden are all about co-operative play. It's a nice mix-up on all their respective genres. You should also try Echochrome, Comet Crash and Flower.
If you love puzzle games, there are TONS of puzzle games on PSN. Trash Panic, Critter Crunch and Numblast are ... well, a blast. Echochrome fits in that category as well.
If you like RPGs, you should try out Cross Edge. A lot of people hate on it for its primitive graphics, but the battle system is fun as hell - isn't that what really matters? Eternal Sonata is also on the PS3, but that's been hell for me to track down.
If you like non-FPS action games, then try out the Ratchet & Clank series. I'm not a big fan of them personally, but I did enjoy what I played of Crack In Time. You can also try Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Sigma 2, God of War Collection, Brutal Legend and I'm sure a ton of other games. Also, if you want an online 3rd-person shooter, give Warhawk a shot. It's a blast to play. No offline mode, but it's still a great part of anyone's collection.
Also, if you are feeling adventurous, sign up for a Japanese account, imports some JPN PSN cards (using a US credit card can get your JPN account banned, I hear) and buy some Japanese PS1 Classics. Tons of shmups, action games, run n guns, etc that will probably never see the light of day here in America.
I'm very surprised that you can't find much that interests you - I can't possibly afford all the games that I want for the system.
Re: Wow, lack of PS3 games that appeal to me
Why has no one mentioned Super Stardust HD? WHY PEOPLE, WHY!?
Its such a good game. Its a twin stick shooter of amazing proportions. It can get a little crazy at times due to the sheer amount of enemies/debris on screen at once but you never feel underpowered powered like you would (well at least I do) when playing a bullet hell.
Also, go try the Fat Princess demo. I was iffy on that game too but once I played it I was hooked. I'm not usually an online gamer but this game made me make an exception.

I'm actually not a fan of the spherical playing field. I much preferred the PSP incarnation.MrHealthy wrote:Why has no one mentioned Super Stardust HD? WHY PEOPLE, WHY!?

Yeah, although the ps3 is region-free for ps3 games, it will only play ps2 and ps1 games for your region. It sucks.Hobie-wan wrote:On a side note, I tried a Japanese PS1 game for shits and giggles.
