Guy, Cody, Adon and Ibuki in SSF4.

Guess I'm just like you. I know of some arcades that have some good stuff, but they're way too far. And we only go to those places when taking visiting relatives out.

Re: Guy, Cody, Adon and Ibuki in SSF4.
I was living in Houston at the time Alpha came out... There were plenty of machines but not many people played it in the area I lived. Everyone did stop playing MK and SF at one point, but it wasn't to play Samurai Shodown... it was to play fucking Primal Rage. I will never understand the short lived popularity of that game.the7k wrote:Well, it seems like a lot of people are claiming that Guy will be their preferred character, and I know that Guy was very popular where I live. Keep in mind, I live in an area where everybody stopped playing Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat once Samurai Showdown II appeared, so I may just be living in Bizarro Land.

Oh come on, it had dinosaurs, and they farted. You know that for all of five minutes you liked it.
And then that changed when you played it.

I've never even had an interest in Primal Rage, don't know why, but it just never appealed to me.

Technically that wasn't a dinosaur.Ack wrote:Oh come on, it had dinosaurs, and they farted.
But I think that this game operated the same way Mortal Kombat did, which was just to draw players in by content rather than gameplay (as you hinted at).

Exactly. All gory and gross-out style, no real substance. Folks played it more for shock value than a quality system. And the proof of this is when you go back and ask fighter fans what they think of it now. Personally, I consider it garbage. That doesn't mean I don't like the concept(dinosaurs fighting each other...it's the same reason everybody loves Riptor), but it just does not feel good to play.Dylan wrote:Technically that wasn't a dinosaur.Ack wrote:Oh come on, it had dinosaurs, and they farted.

Anyway, we should probably try to get back on topic.
