Most likely my PS3/Blu-Ray(HDMI) and CMVS(S-Cable) will be hooked up to my new TV. After researching it looks like I'm more interested in plasma but everyone is telling me the burn in problem is a huge issue since even a careless mistake can ruin it. I'm really on the ropes here haha, all the LCD TVs that are going on sale during Black Friday are only 60Hz and more expensive than Plasmas. Looking to get something from 32 - 42 inches. I'm not looking for someone to tell me a CRT is the best but between LCD/Plasma which is the best route. Thanks!
Ok burn in is not the problem it was. I can't stress this enough, if you leave yoru TV on a still image for 5+ hours then yes it will burn it BUT a lot of times it goes away withing a couple days.

Really just test with your eyes and see which TV you want.

I'm telling you straight up -- burn-in is not a problem with plasmas any more. I have a panasonic and I've watched hours of 4:3 content, hours of Rock Band and hours of Pac Man CE and it's not an issue. I dealt with this fallacy a lot while doing my research. I would challenge you to ask whoever is cautioning you about burn in to tell you how long ago the used a plasma. I guarantee you it was four or five years ago. Go with a good brand and don't look back. I will say again that I personally think plasma is superior to LCD.

And yes, we've well established that CRTs are best for older games. But not everyone has room for 2 or 3 tvs in a single room.

Plasma is the best, hands down.

If you're worried about burn-in, then all you really need to caution yourself about is the first two weeks or so or use for the set, after then the plasma gas will have matured and any real risk of burn-in will have disappeared.

Also if you ever do get any sight burn in, just use the screen saver function in the TV which uses a series of screen wipes from blindingly bright white to full black in sequence for about 30 seconds to fully remove burn-in.

Also if you've got the money get one of the remaining Pioneer Kuro sets, they are literally the most beautiful flat panel displays I have ever seen with my eyes.

It's just a pity that Pioneer decided to get out of the retail sector beginning early next year.

How huge is the difference between 720P - 1080P on a plasma tv? Looks like there are more 1080P LCD TVs on sale while a majority of Plasmas are 720P. Also how huge is the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz on a LCD?

20-32 inches, you should get a 720p set.

32 inches and over, you should get a 1080i/1080p set.

Plasmas don't matter at 120hz or 60hz, as they don't require insane refresh rates because they do not suffer from motion blur.

On an LCD 60hz is amazing on a quality set, and 120hz is okay but in the end unnecessary.

On a dirt cheap bottom of the line LCD then the higher the refresh rate the better.

Anyhow, get a Plasma. LCD's are complete crap when compared to the amazing performance of a good Plasma and are only second to the venerable CRT.

I would still rank my Sony LCD from last year up there with most plasma's though. By far the best LCD i've ever seen.

<pedantic> You can't get interlaced Plasmas/LCDs </pedantic>

(With the exception of the GameBoy Advance, which has an interlaced LCD in a vertical orientation!)

Just trying to cover the bases for him s he seems to be new to the whole resolution debacle.

Plus 1080i and 1080p are unnoticeable in their similarity when placed side to side.
