EWJ I would say go the snes, better sound other than that I never noticed any difference.
Street Fighter II on the SNES, get yourself Turbo or Super Turbo, you will never look back.
Games better on Genesis than SNES?

Re: Which version, SNES or Genesis?
I'll agree with the crowd. SFII - all versions are better on the SNES, unless you absolutely have to have the 6-button controller. I personally think the SNES controller is pretty damn good for SF, even with the shoulder buttons. Turbo is probably the best. I don't think Super SF2 has a turbo mode, it's only "super."
I've always thought EJ looked and sounded better on the SNES. It was developed for the Genesis, though. Plays great on both.

I like the Genesis version of Aladdin better than the SNES version. Thats the only game I can think of that was better on the Genesis.

I'm one of the guys who says the PCE version is better than the Genesis version... but not by much.lisalover1 wrote:You did NOT just call the Genesis "The Sega".ParameterBreach wrote:I have always played street fighter games on the snes and earthworm jim games on the sega,Anyway, it's generally accepted the the EWJ games are better in Genesis form, while the SFII games are better on the SNES. The Genesis versions are alright, but there are even some who say the PC-Engine version surpasses the Genesis version.
That doesn't count!!!!! Those are two totally different games. It's like saying that Gate of Thunder and Thunder Force III are the same game on different consoles, that Gradius and R-Type are the same game, or... that Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World are the same game.I like the Genesis version of Aladdin better than the SNES version. Thats the only game I can think of that was better on the Genesis.
Different makers, different gameplay, different sprites, different level layouts, different moves... completely different games. (didn't this happen in the other thread, as well?).
Here's my addition: Thunder Force III on the Genesis is light years better than Thunder Spirits on the SNES. Not completely the same game, as Thunder Spirits is basically Thunder Force III remixed... but some levels are exactly the same, so I think it counts.

Re: Which version, SNES or Genesis?
I can't imagine playing SFII on a regular Genesis controller. Maybe the 6 button one if you are mainly using the first 2 of each row.
Re: Which version, SNES or Genesis?
Breetai, I'll admit there very different games but, I remember they came out around the same time. I remember choosing the Genesis version because was a better game. At the time it was very misleading to SNES owners, luckily I had both.
Re: Which version, SNES or Genesis?
That's true. If you were to just walk into Wal-Mart in 1994 or 95 or whatever and say Aladdin on the Genesis and on the SNES, the average person would think they were the same game... even with the different artwork and company name on the front cover. Sad, but true!corn619 wrote:Breetai, I'll admit there very different games but, I remember they came out around the same time. I remember choosing the Genesis version because was a better game. I stayed informed with Gamepro. (yeah, they paid me to say that)
Because they're filtered. Why do my farts smell different when I'm in water?

Re: Which version, SNES or Genesis?
So what if I have a 6 button controller for the Genesis? Same verdict? And how do the SNK fighting games stack up to each other? I kind of thought that Samurai Shodown was better on the Genesis because of the larger sprites.
Re: Which version, SNES or Genesis?
If you have a 6 button controller, I'd say Genesis for sure on Street Fighter, but I just like having all six buttons right there like on the arcade game instead of having to use shoulder buttons for moves.
