Paranormal Message Board
Re: Paranormal Message Board
My point was that God didn't write the Bible, man did.
Re: Paranormal Message Board
Ofcourse man wrote the bible. Plagarized some of it aswell from earlier writings. I didnt know that was ever in doubt.
I see what you are saying now though. Thats all I have. I really dont want to discuss religion on a video game message board even though I always seem to jump in when it gets brought up. LOL. If I wanted to discuss religion Id go to a religious discussion message board.
On topic on dont believe in ghost either. IMO ghost are in the same realm as goblins and fairies. Anyhow, thats all from me.

My comment wasn't aimed at you.
Most Bible beaters believe that indeed the Bible (at least the Old testament) was spoken by God, but written through the hands of man.
After all the different translations and versions of the bible, I wonder if we'll ever see one of the Bible's rough drafts.

But if the bible is no good, you wont be able to use it as "proof" for every insane claim you make. Take away "Because it's in the bible" and religious people would have nothing to say when you question their beliefs.

That wasnt aimed at me? Thought it was. Ohwell.Luke wrote:My point was that God didn't write the Bible, man did.

Nope. I was trying to get Inazuma's take on it, which we now have.Octopod wrote:That wasnt aimed at me? Thought it was. Ohwell.Luke wrote:My point was that God didn't write the Bible, man did.
Re: Paranormal Message Board
Supposedly, all the men who wrote the books of the Bible, were told what to write from God.Luke wrote:My point was that God didn't write the Bible, man did.
Reminds me of this Nick Gisburne video.Inazuma wrote:But if the bible is no good, you wont be able to use it as "proof" for every insane claim you make. Take away "Because it's in the bible" and religious people would have nothing to say when you question their beliefs.

Viruses and microbes existed before microscopes, obviously, since people still got sick in the same way they do now. You're falsely limiting the concept of "evidence" to "things we can see." Obviously, we can't see microbes or radio waves, but we can detect them through other means. Nothing I've been presented with regarding ghosts has been remotely convincing, and mostly contradictory. Show me something testable and repeatable, and we'll talk.kingmohd84 wrote:Well I personally believe in ghosts, as other beings, not dead humans. And it makes perfect sense that we do not see them, who saw bacteria or viruses before microscopes? It doesn't mean they don't exist, and maybe we still can't see radio waves but we know for sure they do exist.
You might have a point, if everyone in the world believed exactly the same things. Its true that most cultures have a religion of some sort, but they vary drastically. In fact, the concept of a single supreme being is very rare in ancient cultures, as most cultures believed in many, differing gods.I built my own theory , which might be flawed , but if something exists in all cultures and around the world during the history of time it must be true, otherwise how can ideas travel so far?
For example, how come each culture of people believe in a religion or something to worship ? Then god must exist, it wasn't like the people in Asia can email the people in Nigeria about the new fad to be loyal to some supreme being and do as he says.
As for ghosts...everyone everywhere experiences death and loses loved ones. It makes sense that they would developed traditions regarding what happens to them after death. However, we come back to the differences. Some cultures believe they are reborn into other bodies, some believe they go into an afterlife (and of course there are hundreds of different afterlifes as well) some believe they hang around on Earth and must be appeased with sacrifices, etc. There are broad similarities between some cultures and others, but seeing as how we're all members of the same species and live on the same planet, that's hardly surprising.Ghosts are the same thing, where ever you go to any kind of people there is some reference to ghosts. This is kind of a proof to me that they exist, because people so far away with highly different cultures believe in the same thing and we are talking BC here.
Of course , just something I came up with and could be flawed .
The behavior you're describing is more formally known as "being a total jerk" and is not limited to atheists. I can't tell you how many times Christians have called me an idiot for not believing since that meant I was going to hell. If you want to have a reasoned discussion with an atheist, PM me and we'll talk. I think you'll find that most people of any particular opinion are nice, reasonable people. Unfortunately, it tends to be the zealots that speak out and make jerks of themselves and make everyone else look bad.any how , worst thing I can here(and atheists do this best) is to laugh at people who believe in something. They think people are stupid to believe in ghosts or a god or angels and it is all lies, and when you tell them they are true, they laugh and say well where are they? Then they laugh and say you are a retard and you are just trying to make people do what you want them to do by lying to them about religion.
I really can understand those who would simply say they don't know. They want proof, and unless they see it, they can't be sure. That is okay. It gets me with those who think that unless science can prove it , then it doesn't exist. How come something does not exist by default unless you can prove it? Why can't it be for sure it exist unless you can prove that it doesn't?
As someone already mentioned, assuming something exists without evidence, logically, means you have to assume every idea ever thought up by anyone is real until it is disproven. There's a reason why the world doesn't work that way: we'd never get anything done. Let's assume God exists, and I should go to church every Sunday...but let's also assume that Odin exists, and that I should go start a fight and dedicate it to him, or else I'll never get into Valhalla. We'd also have to assume that elves are real, and that I should leave out a pan of milk for them every night so they don't come into my house and steal my children. We should also assume that stepping on a crack will in fact break my mother's back... Do you see how insane life would be if we lived it this way? If someone comes up with convincing evidence of ghosts or any other phenomenon, sure I'll think about it, but don't expect me to believe in something because you say so.
Example: My roommate tells me that he had lunch with Abraham Lincoln. Should I just believe him? Honest Abe's been dead for 150 years, would you just assume he was telling the truth, and that President Lincoln has risen from the grave to have a meal with him? No, of course not. You would want proof. Pictures, witnesses, a receipt with a recent date and Abe's signature. I feel the same way about the paranormal. You present an extraordinary claim, you better have some extraordinary evidence to back it up.
They would be right to laugh at you. All you've done is show up and make bizarre claims that go against what they know. You haven't presented them with any evidence that you know what you're talking about. Why would you expect people to just take your word for it? Give a bunch of people the pills. When they start getting healthier, then you can expect everyone else to believe you, because you have solid evidence that what you're saying is true. Telling everyone that they're wrong and that at some point in the future you might be proven right, and expecting them to change their mind is a little crazy. If I told you that I had a dragon in my garage, but he was invisible, intangible, produced no heat, and was otherwise totally undetectable by modern science, but that one day in the future someone might invent a device that could detect him, would you believe the dragon was real? Would you just take my word for it and completely change you way of thinking because I say so? Of course not, and expecting other people to do the same is silly.I can't prove to you by science that god does exist, but you can't prove that god does NOT exist by science either so don't laugh at me. Think of it this way , if I said Vitamins exist and it keeps you healthy in the 1200 AD. Some one will laugh and say you must be a witch doctor , prove it. Science didn't get there yet, but if I can't it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Saying it doesn't make it real.Last thing I want to say is that ghosts do exist, and if you look hard enough you will find them, and I do mean in the graveyard.
