For a better overall look at the new PS3 Slim, check out this site:

I'm totally geeking out right now by the way. Like A LOT of gamers, I've wanted to upgrade from my PS2 to the PS3 since the beginning and I think I may finally be able to now! *Damn recession*

I like the redesign. Though if I have the option between the new one and the old one, old one all the way (especially since there are price drops).

I just wish there were more PS3 games I wanted. The list right now is:
Soul Calibur 4
Castle Crashers
Wipeout HD
Blazblue
King of Fighters
Untold Legends
And probably G1 Jockey and Unreal Tournament 3

I do have to admit it's kinda ugly. Think I actually might try to spring for the $299 80GB model tomorrow or this weekend (granted it's still in stock).

Not to mention that the 80gb model has at least some ps2 bc via software, and you can replace the hdd. Early word says the slim will have a non-removable hdd, but it is 120gb.

Anyway, good on Sony and - told ya so!

So no PS2 support?

otherwise I'm on-board assuming there's no defects

But I may still go the route of upgrading the HD on an old PS2 with PS2 support.
(but they should be cheaper now!)

Yeah, somehow I kinda figured that. There's always a catch, right?

Gotta cut corners somewhere, ya know.. if it's not the Cell or Blu-Ray drive

I like the design. I don't think it's ugly at all (and I think the fat design is cool too, much unlike the PS1 and PS2, which are both very ugly -- OK, the PS1 slim is fine).

BTW, I have to give them props for not only cutting the power consumption dramatically, but actually promoting that stat :)

In Germany, Sony has just revealed the PS3 Slim which will come with a 120GB hard drive and a much needed price drop, putting the system at a sexier $299. The features will remain the same as the standard 120GB version so don't go expecting any backward compatibility.

According to IGN, the system will be released September 1st and be 34% lighter and consume 34% less power than the current system. The current PS3s will drop in price starting tomorrow, so you probably shouldn't buy one today.

What do you think? is it sexy or another blah..

Hm I thought it was going to be glossy like the current one. I like this better anyway, doesn't show fingerprints. But it's still kinda big from what I can tell. We need comparison shots.
