You wanna know a world that makes no sense? Blue Dragon. I just finished the first disk, and was treated to a medieval castle firing ballista with chains at a mechanical flying fortress. The soldiers of this castle, decked out in armor, shields, and swords, then rode hot air balloons onto the fortress, started throwing grenades, and ended it by jumping off the fortress with parachutes.
Oh, and the scientists of this castle were able to successfully reverse-engineer a small flying transport that had been retrieved from the fortress.

Wii Sports. I'll be sitting around with friends, or friends of friends and they are all like "OMG I just got a Wii!!1 Wii sports is so cool! Did you ever play it?" And "I'm like yeah, I've had it since the day it came out, and I havent played it since the day after that." They give me a look like I'm crazy and continue to talk about how it is the greatest thing ever. Drives me crazy.

Re: The game that everyone hates you for hating...!
Here's the ones I get called names for not liking:
Final Fantasy/Squaresoft- OK I'll admit, I hate anime. So what are the odds of me liking any RPG? I really can't stand the kids (and that's what they are 95% of the time) who lick the ass of Squaresoft. I'd just rather "play" a game instead of watching/reading it.
Metal Gear Solid 2- The most famous case of bait and switch in video game history. The previews showed Snake being all bad-ass on a ship. Then when you got the game home, there was Raiden. And seriously... FUCK Raiden. I'm not even gonna get into the story....
Anything Nintendo (except Metroid)- Ah, the Disney of video games. The games are great. I just hate Nintendo's characters. I didn't even like those cutesy little bastards when I was a kid.

Oh yeah, I hate Starcraft. I also really hate Starcraft fans. And I especially hate it when Starcraft fans try to tell me how much better Starcraft is to Warhammer 40,000, or when they try to tell me Starcraft came first and Warhammer 40k is ripping it off.
Re: The game that everyone hates you for hating...!
Wow, I did not realize such idiots existed. (This reminds me of the people who tried to say Metroid was ripping off Halo.) Good friend of mine is a Starcraft fan, but he doesn't seem to be so idiotic in such things. (In fact, he only recently become an RTS fan; I remember back in high school he thought I was wasting my time on games like Age of Empires.)Ack wrote:... when they try to tell me Starcraft came first and Warhammer 40k is ripping it off.
I guess a lot of my friends hate me for not using my Wii at all, but I find this only happens with friends who don't have one. Almost all of my friends that have a Wii can fully understand why it is still in the box.

I hate just about all RPG's. I liked the red and blue versions of pokemon and the super mario RPG's are good. Especially JRPG's, I NEVER found the need to play as some adolescent kid that looks like a girl trying to save the world from destruction. Funny since I loved the Fallout haha( YES I HAVE PLAYED THE FIRST AND SECOND BEFORE I PLAYED THE THIRD). Specifically RPGS: All zelda games, final fantasy, and so on. I really don't understand the appeal of the Zelda games.
WoW I hate that game with a passion too. The gameplay is so repetitive its mind numbing( and I am a fan of the dynasty warrior games!). I don't really like fantasy too. So maybe that would explain a lot.

Halo is a piece of shit game overall. It does however create some fun when playing with friends on a multiplayer level.
Guitar Hero I can't stand, it seems so inferior to Rockband, has poor music selection, and has a new game addition coming out every month it seems.
Any racing game that is heralded as being better than Gran Turismo..... whether it is Forza, or any NFS, PGR or whatever, Gran Turismo is consistently the best game to play racing wise period.
I'm sure I am forgetting some others, but those I always have to have disagreements with other people about.

Here's another, Odin Sphere. Sure, the graphics were great, but I'd be better off just getting an artbook. The gameplay was too simple, slowdown was as rampant as bootlegs at a flea market, and the inventory was too limited and required more micro-management than Capitalism. The truth is its an alright game, but it's just alright. Not good, not great, and definitely not one of the best titles ever that its fans seem to think it is.
Re: The game that everyone hates you for hating...!
Ok, this is a pet peeve of mine, but the whole "effeminant teenager" thing didn't really get started until FFX. All the SNES RPGs had normal characters and were some fantastic pieces of gameplay (in my opinion). And a decent number of PSX and PS2 RPGs also have regular protagonists, like Xenogears and Persona 4. The last couple of high-profile Square (and I specifically call out the Square half) games have had the effeminant protagonist that makes you question is sexuality, and that has been transferred onto all JRPGs. I have no problem if you don't like JRPGs; different strokes for different folks. But the "teenage guy who looks like a girl" thing is NOT a reason to write of the genre.Mr.White555 wrote:Especially JRPG's, I NEVER found the need to play as some adolescent kid that looks like a girl trying to save the world from destruction.
Definately. This is a deeply flawed game that has some very interesting parts (the art style is amazing and I enjoyed the story). I felt that its merits were enough to make it worth playing through, but I did go to youtube to see all the bad endings. And I am optimistic about Vanillaware's next game, Muramasa, since it looks like they've learned from their mistakes. But I wouldn't begrudge anyone who can't get through Odin Sphere.the7k wrote:Here's another, Odin Sphere. Sure, the graphics were great, but I'd be better off just getting an artbook.
