Wii Sales Concerns
Re: Wii Sales Concerns
You left one game off your list, Ack, the new flagship Tales game, Tales of Graces, is coming to the Wii.

I figured I'd miss something, but that only further proves my point. There are lots of games on the console worth playing, but we have to sift through the crap to find them. They're there, but it requires some leg work to look them up.
And I consider JRPG to be a very broad category, fast.

Re: Wii Sales Concerns
I know you do, it is one of your downfalls.

There is a ton of great games for Wii, no doubt, unfortunately, I feel like the shovelware is what is selling. If I walk into a walmart or target all I see is a wall of garbage (is this because all of the good games are sold out or because all they stock it garbage? I think the latter.) Unfortunately if the big game companies are losing money on the games they put time and effort into, and printing money with cheaply thrown together games, why would they continue making good games? I know there has been shovelware on every console, and especially on the generational top seller (NES, PS1, PS2, Wii, etc.,) but it seems like the shovelware is really selling for Wii and seems to be the games that people talk about. No one is mentioning and decent games, except the small marketshare that is us (dont want to say "hardcore", how about "quality game enthusiasts",) on the gaming boards.

Re: Wii Sales Concerns
Oh, almost forgot to mention. The coolest old lady I've ever seen came into GS yesterday asking for hannah montana games on the Wii for her granddaughter, but the whole time she was in the store all she did was talk about how crappy the games her granddaughter played on the Wii were and what real games I could recommend for her if we didn't have it. Sadly we did.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

If she was so willing to buy a not so shit game, I would have pushed a little harder and had her tell her granddaughter that they didn't have the Hannah Montana game. If she was as cool as you said she would have gone with it.

It's all just a cycle it's happened before, and it'll happen again just give it time.
So that means the next generation will be the new SNES! Sweet!

flight sim
In Japan, they have flight sim "The Sky Crawlers".
Wii motion plus is an add on, and if it's anything that history has taught me it's that addons never do well regardless of how functional/good they really are. So this is one of those wait and see situations for me personally.

Wii Games I like (wouldn't have if I didn't have wii) :
Madworld
Musha VC
Lords of Thunder VC
Devils Crush WiiWare
Mario Galaxy
Nintendo doesn't care about competitors. They care about their console sales and margins. As long as the numbers are right at investor meetings Nintendo is fine. When was the last time they actually lost money ever? Its kind of funny this news came out right after the DSi sold more units day one than the DSlite. how will Nintendo cope?

Re: Wii Sales Concerns
The Dual Shock/Dual Analog controller wasn't an add on, it completely replaced the original digital controller. Sony reacted to Nintendo's 64 controller and gave developers incentive to program all future games for it. Remember the Wii motion plus won't come in the box with all future systems, nor are they going to integrate/replace all existing Wii remotes with it like Sony did with the Dual Shock/Dual Analog.
