Dude why are you such a grump? Yes you can simplify this discussion by saying some people will like Choice A for various reasons and some people will like Choice B for various reasons, but you could say the same thing about a million subjects. That doesn't mean that it's not interesting conversation. Yea, it's a discussion that has been done to death but I'm still interested in it because I still don't get how you could prefer the genesis and I'm curious to hear people's opinions on why they would choose it over the SNES. I don't understand why you don't just chill out and participate in conversations that interest you and ignore what doesn't. Also I don't see you making any threads with deep meaningful subjects so why not just let us have our little conversation about comparing two awesome consoles.

You got here in December. You haven't seen shit. Unfortunately, as far as I know, this forum doesn't have a means to list each user's created thread list, (only individual posts) so you can just pretend I've done nothing around here.

They're both awesome in their own ways! I grew up with the Mega Drive but love the SNES too. A mate of mine had a SNES and we'd go around each others to play the best of both. I never really noticed the whole console rivalry thing back then (than again the advertising over here in the wasn't the comapnies mud slinging at each other), not until the Playstation/Saturn/N64 came along anyway.

Wait, why? Its a discussion not an argument I think what you don't get is that the goal isn't to prove another person wrong or definitively prove that one console is better than the other I just want to hear why people like one over the other. Why is this so bad?

I will say in Mozgus' favor that these discussions do have a greater tendency to end in pointless arguing. Yes, the crowd is pretty nice here, but even this community has members who slip up from time to time, and every argument makes our job a little harder and a little less pleasant. So in general, we're wary of these kinds of discussions. Mozgus favors banning them outright. I tend to watch them pretty closely. The other mods have their opinions and do their thing as well.

I'm going to assume you meant thread. And I'm positive that it is not a hotter issue than it was in the 90's. The people who are getting into the old consoles have the means to purchase both, while back in the day you could only get your parents to get you one. So you had to violently defend your platform of choice.
