I like how it is shaping up, unique shape and style.
It's really not that hard. I thought the same thing myself before learning how to do it. My buddy is an electrician and showed me how to run everything while working at my old house. I had to call him while doing a few things on this one, but I ran the lights and hooked them up myself with no problems, so I hope everything else works. My main concern was with having my office down there and then the arcade games, bar area and then a couple tv's with 8 videogame systems about over loading the circuit breaker, but I think I have everything spread out enough.
I agree. After seeing the professionals I hired stumble through my wiring, I came to the conclusion that I could have done just as well. But I did everything by code, which means I either hire pros, or take an exam to demonstrate that I knew what I was doing.
Did you prewire for surround sound?
I also like how you're incorporating the pier into the bar.

I'd spend every free minute down there, with a very pregnant wife reminding me that she was very pregnant
As far as my speaker setup, I prewired for 7.1, although I don't really see myself getting a new receiver any time soon. The "5s" are in the walls, because they're supposed to hit the listener directly from the side. For the "7s", I did what you're doing, I fixed them to my joists, and If I ever get them, They'll come out of the suspended ceiling and hit the listener from behind.

So, you are currently working on finishing a basement too? I'll tell you this, you better get that thing done before the new baby, because you aren't going to have too much free time afterwards and hammering in a basement at night with the kids sleeping gets yells from the wife in my experience.
the King wrote:Well, for anyone that cares here is the progress on the new game room. Slowly getting there, these things move alot slower with kids. Got everything framed in, wired and insulation in. Hooked up all the lights in the main area and painted the cieling. Drywall next.
Here is from the stairway looking towards where the bar is going to be. You can see a rough layout of the bar out on the floor.
Here is from behind the bar looking at at where the first pic was taken. In the distance is the entrance to my future office and you can see on the right side of the pic where a closest is going to be under the stairs. Those boxes there currently are holding all my games and bar area stuff. They want out!
here is from behind the bar looking out to the main tv/living area.
back at the bar from the living area.
Its almost like a big circle around the stairs that are in the middle of the room and then on the opposite end of the bar area I have a storage area and my office. Here are the general plans for the main area minus the office and storage with the stairs in the middle.
