Re: RPG Progress Report
what is the next Together RPG? I can never seem to find that information ahead of time.
Re: RPG Progress Report
We tend not to announce it until the first day of the new event, since we set aside two months for each one.

What exactly is your "run"?Ack wrote:at the end of my run
I mean, do you have no interest in RPGs outside SNES and PC?
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: RPG Progress Report
No, I do. I actually own a bunch of PlayStation RPGs that I have yet to get through, and the pull of handhelds is strong for the genre. But the two markets I've always enjoyed the most have been my Super Nintendo and my PC, hence why I focus on them the most.
My run is to beat all SNES NTSC-U RPGs, since this is a goal that is long but manageable and enjoyable. It's an era where RPG fans constantly rave about the big names, but the lesser titles seem to get little exposure. When I got heavy into retro gaming, the SNES was my primary focus, and it remains that way to this day for consoles. As a fan, I feel like I owe it to myself to see what this genre has to offer during this time. I'm still going to play other RPGs after this, but I will also be able to say I've done something that few other RPG fans have done, by really exploring in depth even the bottom of the barrel of a peak period of the genre's history. I swap out from time to time and go do other things, but the desire to get through more is always there.
It's actually not that weird of a goal for me; I started my collecting by focusing on all of the SNES NTSC-U Fighters, and by now I've beaten nearly all of them. The ones that remain can be counted on one hand, and I intend to try getting through one or two more later this year.
Oh, and don't worry. I won't try doing this for PC RPGs. That would be unreasonable.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Haha, no thanks. I'm quite sure that number is much larger than you realize.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I think that the DS/3DS PSP/Vita handhelds have a lot to offer you Ack, in regards to RPGs. After your SNES run is done, I advise you to fall head first into those platforms. Should keep you busy for like 10 years easy.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: RPG Progress Report
Hahahaha, so I've been told! I actually thought about seeking a few out, but I have so much to play as is... I don't even know when I'll get to those PS1 and PS2 RPGs I still have.

The first few aren't officially licensed. And one can make an argument on whether or not the premium NWN modules should count or not.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Even with those modules and the enhanced editions of the Black Isle games removed, it looks to be 50+ games, including one that is potentially unplayable(the Pool of Radiance remake). This looks to be a challenge for the CRPG Addict, but I'm afraid not for me.MrPopo wrote:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_D ... ideo_gamesAck wrote:Haha, no thanks. That said, I'll still end up playing through a few of these. I've already beaten some in fact. But I'm nowhere near getting into these heavily.
