And yeah, the "modern" look of the more recent Falcom games is well-done though it doesn't thrill me as much as the classic anime art seen in Ys 1-5, Popful Mail, Brandish, and others.
Why is Origin > Felghana? I'm genuinely curious.

Well Napishtim, Felghana, and Origin all use the same engine so a comparison among the three is pretty easy. Origin is just superior to the others in every way - it has the best soundtrack, battle mechanics, and game world.

The only downside is that it lacks console ports and the only English PC versions are digital-only.

Ys Origin cuts everything that could possibly be considered fluff right out of its equation. It's pure non-stop dungeon smashing action-RPG goodness. No exposition, no tedious grinding, no filler sidequests, no reams of useless NPC banter, no long drawn out crap of any sort. It's pure unadulterated turbo charged smash and dash Ys at its very best. I absolutely loved it. (Also has an amazing OST, but that's not unusual for Ys games.)

Here's a trailer:
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I think rows of Japanese-style cabs look dull. I know it's kind of the entire point that they are standarized but I prefer those big, customized Western cabs.

I know what you mean. Western cabs have a lot of character to them.

Might not be unpopular here, but in general, Trophies/Achievements are terrible for gaming, especially in cases where they easily reveal "secrets", or unlocking the trophy replaces what would have been an unlockable in older games.

It also pads the length of some games, which can be good, or absolutely terrible.

And the creators of multiplayer trophies deserve a special place in hell.

I think trophies are a problem or obsession if you make them one. I've always thought they're fine and get some extra mileage out of some games I really enjoy with them. Agreed that they should never be multiplayer though. Anyways yeah, never seen the big deal with them, for or against.

That is the absolute worst thing about them, IMO. Spoilers in either the trophy names or descriptions. How hard is it to make story-related trophies hidden or "?"?

On the flip side, how hard is it to not read trophy lists?

Granted it they will pop up in your activity feeds. But I just glaze over them as I go down the list.
